For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

( Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou[ wilt].And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed[ is] willing, but the flesh[ is] weak.He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

Then said I, Lo, I come( in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and[ offering] for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure[ therein]; which are offered by the law;Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book[ it is] written of me,I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law[ is] within my heart.
