于是门徒来见约翰，说：“老师，你看，以前在约旦河对岸和你在一起、你为祂做见证的那位在给人施洗，众人都去祂那里了！”

他们来到约翰那里，对他说：“拉比，你看，从前和你在约旦河东，你为他作见证的那一位，他也在施洗，众人都到他那里去了。”

他们就到约翰那里，对他说：“拉比，你看，以前与你在约旦河对岸的，就是你所见证的那一位，他也在施洗，而且大家都到他那里去了。”

They came to John and said to him,“ Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan— the one you testified about— look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”

They came to John and here is what they said to him.“ Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan River is baptizing people. He is the one you told us about. Everyone is going to him.”

And they came to John and said to him,“ Rabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you bore witness— look, he is baptizing, and all are going to him.”

So John’s disciples came to him and said,“ Rabbi, the man you met on the other side of the Jordan River, the one you identified as the Messiah, is also baptizing people. And everybody is going to him instead of coming to us.”

So they came to John and told him,“ Rabbi, the one you testified about, and who was with you across the Jordan, is baptizing— and everyone is going to him.”

And they came to John and said to him,“ Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified— behold, He is baptizing and all the people are coming to Him.”

And they came to John and said to him,“ Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified— behold, He is baptizing, and all are coming to Him!”

And they came unto John, and said to him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou hast borne witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.

So they came to John and told him,“ Rabbi, the One you testified about, and who was with you across the Jordan, is baptizing— and everyone is flocking to Him.”

And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all[ men] come to him.

So they came to John and said to him,“ Rabbi, the one who was with you on the other side of the Jordan River, about whom you testified– see, he is baptizing, and everyone is flocking to him!”

They came to John and said to him,“ Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified, behold, he baptizes, and everyone is coming to him.”

He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. (niv)

So the Pharisees said to one another,“ See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!” (niv)

By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear. (niv)

But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.Such“ wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?For when one says,“ I follow Paul,” and another,“ I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings?What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe— as the Lord has assigned to each his task. (niv)

And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. (niv)

And you see and hear how this fellow Paul has convinced and led astray large numbers of people here in Ephesus and in practically the whole province of Asia. He says that gods made by human hands are no gods at all.There is danger not only that our trade will lose its good name, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited; and the goddess herself, who is worshiped throughout the province of Asia and the world, will be robbed of her divine majesty.” (niv)

( John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying,“ This is the one I spoke about when I said,‘ He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) (niv)

Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:“ God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (niv)

“ I baptize with water,” John replied,“ but among you stands one you do not know.He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was baptizing.The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said,“ Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!This is the one I meant when I said,‘ A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.”Then John gave this testimony:“ I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,‘ The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.”The next day John was there again with two of his disciples.When he saw Jesus passing by, he said,“ Look, the Lamb of God!” (niv)

If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.” (niv)

You who answer prayer, to you all people will come. (niv)

idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factionsand envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. (niv)

However, two men, whose names were Eldad and Medad, had remained in the camp. They were listed among the elders, but did not go out to the tent. Yet the Spirit also rested on them, and they prophesied in the camp.A young man ran and told Moses,“ Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”Joshua son of Nun, who had been Moses’ aide since youth, spoke up and said,“ Moses, my lord, stop them!”But Moses replied,“ Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put his Spirit on them!” (niv)

Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ.Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh. (niv)

they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called‘ Rabbi’ by others. (niv)
