西門說：“主啊，我們整夜勞苦，毫無所得，不過，我願照你的話下網。”

西門的夥伴，西庇太的兒子雅各、約翰也是這樣。耶穌對西門說：“不要怕！從今以後，你要作得人的漁夫了。”他們把兩隻船攏了岸，撇下一切，跟從了耶穌。

耶穌在加利利海邊行走的時候，看見兄弟二人，就是名叫彼得的西門和他的弟弟安得烈，正在把網撒到海裡去；他們是漁夫。耶穌就對他們說：“來跟從我，我要使你們作得人的漁夫。”他們立刻撇下網，跟從了他。

所以，栽種的算不得甚麼，澆灌的也算不得甚麼，只在乎那使它生長的神。

眾先知門徒對以利沙說：“請看，我們在你面前居住的那一個地方，對我們來說實在是太窄小了。請你讓我們到約旦河，每人從那裡取一根木頭，我們要在那裡為自己建造一個地方居住。”以利沙說：“你們去吧！”有一個門徒說：“請你和你的僕人們一起去。”他說：“我會去的。”他就和他們同去。他們到了約旦河，就砍伐樹木。有一個門徒砍伐木頭的時候，斧頭掉到水裡去了。他就喊著說：“慘啦！我主啊，這斧頭是借回來的。”神人說：“掉在哪裡呢？”於是他把那地點指給他看。他砍了一根木頭，丟在那裡，那斧頭就浮上來了。以利沙說：“你自己拿上來吧。”他就伸手把它拿住了。

你們自己本來就知道應當怎樣效法我們，因為我們在你們中間並沒有游手好閒，也沒有白吃過誰的飯，反而辛苦勞碌，晝夜作工，免得加重你們任何一人的負擔。這不是因為我們沒有權利，而是要給你們作榜樣，好讓你們效法我們。

我這兩隻手，供應了我和同伴的需要，這是你們自己知道的。

難道只有我和巴拿巴沒有權利不作工嗎？

弟兄們，你們應該記得我們的辛苦和勞碌；我們把神的福音傳給你們的時候，怎樣晝夜作工，免得你們有人受累。

他們是以做帳棚為業的，因為是同業，保羅就與他們同住，一同工作。
