然後對多馬說：“把你的指頭放在這裡，看看我的手吧！伸出你的手來，探探我的肋旁！不要疑惑，只要信！”

繼謂多默曰：『親指探斯穴、親視吾手、親撫吾肋孔！應具信德、莫為狐疑之徒！』

其他的門徒對他說：“我們已經見過主了。”多馬對他們說：“除非我親眼看見他手上的釘痕，用我的指頭探入那釘痕，又用我的手探入他的肋旁，我決不相信。”

說了這話，就把手和腳給他們看。

耶穌回答他們：“唉！不信的世代啊！我跟你們在一起到幾時呢？我要忍受你們到幾時呢？把他帶到我這裡來吧。”

父親怎樣憐恤兒子，耶和華也照樣憐恤敬畏他的人；因為他知道我們的本體，記得我們不過是塵土。

耶穌說：“唉！這又不信又乖謬的世代啊！我要跟你們在一起到幾時呢？我要忍受你們到幾時呢？把孩子帶到我這裡來吧。”

我們主的恩典，隨著在基督耶穌裡的信心和愛心，在我身上越發增加。“基督耶穌降世，為要拯救罪人。”這話是可信的，是值得完全接納的。在罪人中我是個罪魁。可是，我竟然蒙了憐憫，好讓基督耶穌在我這個罪魁身上，顯明他完全的忍耐，給後來信他得永生的人作榜樣。

律法的出現，是要叫過犯增多；然而罪在哪裡增多，恩典就更加增多了。

他卻有憐憫，赦免罪孽，沒有把他們滅絕，並且多次抑制自己的怒氣，沒有完全宣洩他的烈怒。

耶穌說：“唉！這不信又乖謬的世代啊！我跟你們在一起，忍受你們，要到幾時呢？把你兒子帶到這裡來吧！”
