and he went back inside the palace.“ Where do you come from?” he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer.

And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

and he went back into the governor’s residence and said to Jesus,“ Where do you come from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.

He entered into the Praetorium again, and said to Jesus,“ Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.

Then Pilate went back into the headquarters, summoned Jesus, and said to him,“ Are you the king of the Jews?”

We know that God has spoken to Moses. But this man— we don’t know where he’s from.”“ This is an amazing thing!” the man told them.“ You don’t know where he is from, and yet he opened my eyes.

Now the Scripture passage he was reading was this: He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb is silent before its shearer, so he does not open his mouth.In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who will describe his generation? For his life is taken from the earth.

“ Even if I testify about myself,” Jesus replied,“ My testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I’m going. But you don’t know where I come from or where I’m going.

Then the woman went and told her husband,“ A man of God came to me. He looked like the awe-inspiring angel of God. I didn’t ask him where he came from, and he didn’t tell me his name.

While he was being accused by the chief priests and elders, he didn’t answer.Then Pilate said to him,“ Don’t you hear how much they are testifying against you?”But he didn’t answer him on even one charge, so that the governor was quite amazed.

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughter and like a sheep silent before her shearers, he did not open his mouth.

But Jesus kept silent. The high priest said to him,“ I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”

And the chief priests accused him of many things.Pilate questioned him again,“ Aren’t you going to answer? Look how many things they are accusing you of!”But Jesus still did not answer, and so Pilate was amazed.

not being frightened in any way by your opponents. This is a sign of destruction for them, but of your salvation— and this is from God.

“ You are a king then?” Pilate asked.“ You say that I’m a king,” Jesus replied.“ I was born for this, and I have come into the world for this: to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”

I am like a deaf person; I do not hear. I am like a speechless person who does not open his mouth.I am like a man who does not hear and has no arguments in his mouth.For I put my hope in you, LORD; you will answer me, my Lord, my God.
