Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away.

Later Joseph asked Pilate for Jesus’ body. Joseph was from the town of Arimathea. He was a follower of Jesus. But he followed Jesus secretly because he was afraid of the Jewish leaders. After Pilate gave him permission, Joseph came and took the body away.

After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away his body.

當時，有一個名叫約瑟的人，是猶太議會中的議員，為人公義良善。這個人並沒有贊同他們的計劃和行為；他是猶太的亞利馬太城的人，一直期待著神的國。他來到彼拉多面前，請求要耶穌的遺體。他把遺體取下來，用細麻布裹好，安放在一座岩石鑿成的墓穴裡，那裡從來沒有安放過人。那天是預備日，安息日快要到了。那些從加利利陪耶穌一起來的婦女跟在後面。她們看到了那墓穴，也看到了耶穌的遺體怎樣被安放，就回去預備香料和香液。不過在安息日，她們還是按照誡命休息了。

到了傍晚，來了一個亞利馬太的財主，名叫約瑟，他自己也是耶穌的門徒。他來到彼拉多面前，請求要耶穌的遺體，彼拉多就下令給他。約瑟領了耶穌的遺體，用潔白的細麻布裹好，安放在自己的新墓穴裡，這墓穴是他鑿在岩石裡的。他又滾來一塊大石頭，堵住墓穴口，就離開了。茉大拉的瑪麗亞和另一個瑪麗亞在那裡，對著墳墓坐著。

並且大多數的弟兄因著我所受的捆鎖，就在主裡深信不疑、無所懼怕，更加大膽地傳講這話語。

因為那天是預備日，也就是安息日的前一天，所以到了傍晚，亞利馬太的約瑟來了，鼓起勇氣去向彼拉多請求要耶穌的遺體。約瑟是猶太議會中一位受人尊敬的議員，他也期待著神的國。彼拉多聽見耶穌已經死了就感到驚奇，於是叫來了百夫長，問他耶穌是否已經死了。他向百夫長了解情況後，就把遺體給了約瑟。於是，約瑟買了細麻布，把遺體取下來，用細麻布包好，安放在一座岩石鑿成的墓穴裡，又滾來一塊石頭，堵住墓穴口。茉大拉的瑪麗亞和約西的母親瑪麗亞，都看到了安放耶穌的地方。

只是沒有人公開地講論他的事，因為怕那些猶太人。

不過甚至是首領當中也有許多信耶穌的。但是為了法利賽人的緣故，他們不敢承認，免得被趕出會堂，

他的父母說這些話，是因為怕那些猶太人。原來那些猶太人已經說好，如果有人承認耶穌是基督，就要把他趕出會堂。

對人的懼怕，會成為陷阱；依靠耶和華的，安穩在高處。
