The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe.

这门徒就是为这些事作见证、并且记载这些事的，我们知道他的见证是真的。

论到从起初原有的生命之道，就是我们所听见、所看见、亲眼看过、亲手摸过的—这生命已经显现出来，我们看见了，现在又作见证，把原与父同在，并且向我们显现过的那永远的生命传扬给你们—我们把所看见、所听见的传扬给你们，为要使你们也与我们有团契，而我们的团契是与父和他儿子耶稣基督所共有的。

你们也要作见证，因为你们从起初就与我同在。”

所以，我这同作长老，作基督受苦的证人和分享将来所要显现的荣耀的人，勉励在你们中间的长老们：

从前所写的圣经都是为教导我们写的，要使我们藉着忍耐和因圣经所生的安慰，得着盼望。

我们若忽略这么大的救恩，怎能逃避呢？这拯救起先是主亲自讲的，后来是听见的人给我们证实了。上帝又按自己的旨意，更用神迹奇事、百般的异能，和圣灵所给的恩赐，与他们一同作见证。

他在犹太人之地和耶路撒冷所行的一切事，有我们作见证人。他们竟把他挂在木头上杀了。

但记载这些事是要使你们信耶稣是基督，是上帝的儿子，并且使你们信他，好因着他的名得生命。

我知道你常常听我，但我说这话是为了周围站着的众人，要使他们信是你差了我来的。”

耶稣见母亲和他所爱的那门徒站在旁边，就对母亲说：“母亲，看，你的儿子！”

“我不但为这些人祈求，也为那些藉着他们的话信我的人祈求，使他们都合而为一。正如父你在我里面，我在你里面，使他们也在我们里面，好让世人信是你差我来的。

为了你们的缘故，我不在那里反而欢喜，为要使你们信。现在我们到他那里去吧。”

现在事情还没有发生，我预先告诉你们，使你们在事情发生的时候会信。
