願那些尋索我命的，抱愧蒙羞；願那些喜悅我遭害的，退後受辱。願那些對我說「啊哈、啊哈」的，因羞愧退後。

於是，王派了一個五十夫長，帶領五十人到以利亞那裏。他上來，看哪，以利亞正坐在山頂上。五十夫長對他說：「神人哪，王吩咐你下來！」以利亞回答五十夫長說：「我若是神人，願火從天上降下來，吞滅你和你的五十個人！」於是有火從天上降下來，吞滅五十夫長和他的五十個人。王又派另一個五十夫長，帶領五十人到以利亞那裏。五十夫長對他說：「神人哪，王這樣吩咐，快快下來！」以利亞回答他們說：「我若是神人，願火從天上降下來，吞滅你和你的五十個人！」於是上帝的火從天上降下來，吞滅五十夫長和他的五十個人。王第三次又派一個五十夫長，帶領五十人去。第三個五十夫長上去，雙膝跪在以利亞面前，哀求他說：「神人哪，願我的性命和你這五十個僕人的性命在你眼中看為寶貴！看哪，已經有火從天上降下來，吞滅前兩次來的五十夫長和他們的五十個人，現在願我的性命在你眼中看為寶貴！」耶和華的使者對以利亞說：「你跟他下去，不要怕他！」以利亞就起來，跟他下到王那裏去。

那作惡的就是我的仇敵，前來吃我肉的時候就絆跌仆倒。

主啊，現在求你鑒察，他們的威嚇，使你僕人放膽講你的道，伸出你的手來，讓醫治、神蹟、奇事藉着你聖僕耶穌的名行出來。」

他的門徒雅各和約翰看見了，就說：「主啊！你要我們吩咐火從天上降下來，燒滅他們嗎？」耶穌轉身責備兩個門徒。於是他們就往別的村莊去了。

願恨惡錫安的都蒙羞退後！

願那些尋找我、要滅我命的，一同抱愧蒙羞！願那些喜悅我遭害的，退後受辱！
