彼得遠遠地跟着耶穌，直到進了大祭司的院子，和警衛一同坐在火邊取暖。

我未曾與虛妄的人同坐，也不與偽善的人來往。我痛恨惡人的集會，必不與惡人同坐。耶和華啊，我要洗手表明無辜，才環繞你的祭壇；我好發出稱謝的聲音，述說你一切奇妙的作為。耶和華啊，我喜愛你所住的殿和你顯榮耀的居所。不要把我的性命和罪人一同除掉，不要把我的生命和好流人血的一同除掉。他們的手中有奸惡，他們的右手滿有賄賂。

願我的心不與他們同謀，願我的靈不與他們合夥；因為他們在烈怒中殺人，任意割斷牛腿的筋。

不從惡人的計謀，不站罪人的道路，不坐傲慢人的座位，惟喜愛耶和華的律法，晝夜思想他的律法；這人便為有福！

西門‧彼得正站着取暖，有人對他說：「你不也是他的門徒嗎？」彼得不承認，說：「我不是。」

與智慧人同行的，必得智慧；和愚昧人作伴的，必受虧損。

他們在院子中間生了火，一同坐着，彼得也坐在他們當中。有一個使女看見彼得面向火光坐着，就定睛看他，說：「這個人素來也是同那人一起的。」

見彼得取暖，就看着他，說：「你素來也是同拿撒勒人耶穌一起的。」

那暗昧無益的事，不可參與，倒要把這種事揭發出來。因為，他們暗中所做的，就是連提起來都是可恥的。

基督和彼列有甚麼相和？信主的和不信主的有甚麼相干？神的殿和偶像有甚麼相同？因為我們是永生神的殿，就如神曾說：「我要在他們中間居住來往；我要作他們的神，他們要作我的子民。」所以主說：「你們務要從他們中間出來，跟他們分別；不要沾不潔淨的東西，我就收納你們。

不要被欺騙了；「濫交朋友敗壞品德。」

二人既被釋放，就到自己的人那裏去，把祭司長和長老所說的話都告訴他們。

他們上了岸，看見那裏有炭火，上面有魚和餅。

他在那裏進了一個洞，在洞中過夜。看哪，耶和華的話臨到他，說：「以利亞，你在這裏做甚麼？」

耶穌非常痛苦焦慮，禱告更加懇切，汗如大血點滴在地上。〕
