“ Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father.

“ I have not been speaking to you plainly. But a time is coming when I will speak clearly. Then I will tell you plainly about my Father.

“ I have said these things to you in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech but will tell you plainly about the Father.

「我還有好些事要告訴你們，但你們現在擔當不了。

門徒進前來問耶穌：「對眾人講話，為甚麼用比喻呢？」耶穌回答他們說：「因為天國的奧祕只讓你們知道，不讓他們知道。

我從父而來，到了世界，又離開世界，到父那裏去。」門徒說：「你看，如今你是明說，不用比方了。

這都是耶穌用比喻對眾人說的話，不用比喻，他就不對他們說甚麼。這是要應驗先知所說的話：「我要開口說比喻，說出從創世以來所隱藏的事。」

耶穌把這比方告訴他們，但他們不明白他所說的是甚麼。

耶穌又對他們說：「你們不明白這比喻嗎？這樣怎能明白一切的比喻呢？

我要側耳聽比喻，用琴解謎語。

我要開口說比喻，我要解開古時的謎語，

既然我們有這樣的盼望，就大有膽量，不像摩西將面紗蒙在臉上，使以色列人不能定睛看到那逐漸褪色的榮光的結局。但他們的心地剛硬，直到今日誦讀舊約的時候，這同樣的面紗還沒有揭去；因為這面紗在基督裏才被廢去。然而直到今日，每逢誦讀摩西書的時候，面紗還在他們心上。但他們的心何時歸向主，面紗就何時除去。主就是那靈；主的靈在哪裏，哪裏就有自由。既然我們眾人以揭去面紗的臉得以看見主的榮光，好像從鏡子裏返照，就變成了與主有同樣的形像，榮上加榮，如同從主的靈變成的。

他既被高舉在上帝的右邊，又從父受了所應許的聖靈，就把你們所看見所聽見的，澆灌下來。大衛並沒有升到天上，但他自己說：『主對我主說：你坐在我的右邊，等我使你的仇敵作你的腳凳。』故此，以色列全家當確實知道，你們釘在十字架上的這位耶穌，上帝已經立他為主，為基督了。」

反而把那些暗昧可恥的事棄絕了，不行詭詐，不曲解上帝的道，只將真理顯揚出來，好在上帝面前把自己推薦給各人的良心。

人要把你們趕出會堂，而且時候將到，凡殺你們的還以為是在事奉上帝。

「不久，你們將不再見到我；再過不久，你們還要見到我。」有幾個門徒彼此說：「他對我們說『不久，你們將不再見到我；再過不久，你們還要見到我』；又說『因我到父那裏去』。這是甚麼意思呢？」

明白箴言和譬喻，懂得智慧人的言詞和謎語。
