因為知道我脫離這帳棚的時候快到了，正如我們的主耶穌基督所指示我的。

我實實在在地告訴你，你年輕的時候，自己束上帶子，隨意往來；但年老的時候，你要伸出手來，別人要把你束上，帶你到不願意去的地方。」耶穌說這話，是指彼得會怎樣死來榮耀上帝。說了這話，耶穌對他說：「你跟從我吧！」

孩子們！我與你們同在的時候不多了；你們會找我，但我所去的地方，你們不能去。這話我曾對猶太人說過，現在也照樣對你們說。

在我父的家裏有許多住處；若是沒有，我就早已告訴你們了。我去原是為你們預備地方去。

我往哪裏去，你們知道那條路。」多馬對他說：「主啊，我們不知道你去哪裏，怎麼能知道那條路呢？」

有幾個門徒彼此說：「他對我們說『不久，你們將不再見到我；再過不久，你們還要見到我』；又說『因我到父那裏去』。這是甚麼意思呢？」

彼得看見他，就問耶穌：「主啊，這個人怎樣呢？」耶穌對他說：「假如我要他等到我來的時候還在，跟你有甚麼關係呢？你跟從我吧！」
