于是，他们就拿起石头要打祂，耶稣却避开他们，离开了圣殿。

“主人夸奖这个不义的管家精明。因为今世的儿女在处理世事方面比光明的儿女更精明。

你们从前活在黑暗中，现在既然活在主的光明中，行事为人就该像光明的儿女。

你们都是光明之子，白昼之子。我们既不属于黑夜，也不属于黑暗。

因为主这样吩咐我们，“‘我已使你成为外族人的光，好把救恩带到地极。’”外族人听后，非常欢喜，颂赞主的道。凡被选定得永生的人都信了主。

起来，发光吧！因为你的光已经来到，耶和华的荣耀已经照在你身上。

他来是要为光做见证，叫世人可以借着他而相信。

我们既属于白昼，就应当保持清醒，要把信心和爱心当作护心镜遮胸，把得救的盼望当作头盔戴上。

所以耶稣不再公开地在犹太人中间露面。祂离开伯大尼，前往靠近旷野的地方，到了以法莲城，就和门徒住下来。

但遵行真理的人喜欢接近光，好显明他所做的是靠上帝做的。”

他们又要抓耶稣，但祂从他们手中逃脱了。后来，耶稣到了约旦河东岸约翰从前施洗的地方，在那里住下来。

若有人说自己在光明中，却恨他的弟兄姊妹，他就仍然活在黑暗里。爱弟兄姊妹的人活在光明中，没有什么可以绊倒他。恨弟兄姊妹的人活在黑暗中，走在黑暗中，不知何去何从，因为黑暗弄瞎了他的眼睛。

然后，祂便离开他们，出城前往伯大尼，在那里住宿。
