Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came and kept crying out,“ Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely tormented by a demon.”Jesus did not say a word to her. His disciples approached him and urged him,“ Send her away because she’s crying out after us.”He replied,“ I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”But she came, knelt before him, and said,“ Lord, help me!”He answered,“ It isn’t right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”“ Yes, Lord,” she said,“ yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”Then Jesus replied to her,“ Woman, your faith is great. Let it be done for you as you want.” And from that moment her daughter was healed.

The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. He found Philip and told him,“ Follow me.”Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the hometown of Andrew and Peter.Philip found Nathanael and told him,“ We have found the one Moses wrote about in the law( and so did the prophets): Jesus the son of Joseph, from Nazareth.”“ Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Nathanael asked him.“ Come and see,” Philip answered.Then Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said about him,“ Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”

For I too am a man under authority, having soldiers under my command. I say to this one,‘ Go,’ and he goes; and to another,‘ Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant,‘ Do this!’ and he does it.”Hearing this, Jesus was amazed and said to those following him,“ Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with so great a faith.I tell you that many will come from east and west to share the banquet with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

When he saw Jesus passing by, he said,“ Look, the Lamb of God!”The two disciples heard him say this and followed Jesus.When Jesus turned and noticed them following him, he asked them,“ What are you looking for?” They said to him,“ Rabbi”( which means“ Teacher”),“ where are you staying?”“ Come and you’ll see,” he replied. So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon.
