You are to celebrate it throughout your generations as a permanent statute.

They asked Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses that the Lord had given Israel.On the first day of the seventh month, Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly of men, women, and all who could listen with understanding.While he was facing the square in front of the Water Gate, he read out of it from daybreak until noon before the men, the women, and those who could understand. All the people listened attentively to the book of the law.Ezra the scribe stood on a high wooden platform made for this purpose. Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah stood beside him on his right; to his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hash-baddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.Ezra opened the book in full view of all the people, since he was elevated above everyone. As he opened it, all the people stood up.Ezra praised the Lord, the great God, and with their hands uplifted all the people said,“ Amen, Amen!” Then they bowed down and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground.Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah, who were Levites, explained the law to the people as they stood in their places.They read out of the book of the law of God, translating and giving the meaning so that the people could understand what was read.Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to all of them,“ This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people were weeping as they heard the words of the law.Then he said to them,“ Go and eat what is rich, drink what is sweet, and send portions to those who have nothing prepared, since today is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, because the joy of the Lord is your stronghold.”And the Levites quieted all the people, saying,“ Be still, since today is holy. Do not grieve.”Then all the people began to eat and drink, send portions, and have a great celebration, because they had understood the words that were explained to them.

After two days it was the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread. The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a treacherous way to arrest and kill Him.

Whenever a round of banqueting was over, Job would send for his children and purify them, rising early in the morning to offer burnt offerings for all of them. For Job thought: Perhaps my children have sinned, having cursed God in their hearts. This was Job’s regular practice.

Then they took Jesus from Caiaphas to the governor’s headquarters. It was early morning. They did not enter the headquarters themselves; otherwise they would be defiled and unable to eat the Passover.

I wash my hands in innocence and go around Your altar, Lord,

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, double-minded people!

But there were some men who were unclean because of a human corpse, so they could not observe the Passover on that day. These men came before Moses and Aaron the same day

So a man should examine himself; in this way he should eat the bread and drink from the cup.

“ In peace,” he replied.“ I’ve come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice.” Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.

By the seventh month, the Israelites had settled in their towns, and the people gathered together in Jerusalem.Jeshua son of Jozadak and his brothers the priests along with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his brothers began to build the altar of Israel’s God in order to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the law of Moses, the man of God.They set up the altar on its foundation and offered burnt offerings for the morning and evening on it to the Lord even though they feared the surrounding peoples.They celebrated the Festival of Booths as prescribed, and offered burnt offerings each day, based on the number specified by ordinance for each festival day.After that, they offered the regular burnt offering and the offerings for the beginning of each month and for all the Lord’s appointed holy occasions, as well as the freewill offerings brought to the Lord.On the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to the Lord, even though the foundation of the Lord’s temple had not yet been laid.

Now six stone water jars had been set there for Jewish purification. Each contained 20 or 30 gallons.

When Jesus had finished saying all this, He told His disciples,

So Jacob said to his family and all who were with him,“ Get rid of the foreign gods that are among you. Purify yourselves and change your clothes.

Then Moses came down from the mountain to the people and consecrated them, and they washed their clothes.He said to the people,“ Be prepared by the third day. Do not have sexual relations with women.”

and while I was doing this, some Jews from Asia found me ritually purified in the temple, without a crowd and without any uproar.
