Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead.Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms around him.“ Don’t be alarmed,” he said.“ He’s alive!”Then he went upstairs again and broke bread and ate. After talking until daylight, he left.The people took the young man home alive and were greatly comforted.

I and the Father are one.”

Jesus said to her,“ I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.

The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.

Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.Then he said to me,“ Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’”So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet— a vast army.

For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.

He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.

“ The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up.

“ I will deliver this people from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. Where, O death, are your plagues? Where, O grave, is your destruction?“ I will have no compassion,

Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.

For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

“ Take away the stone,” he said.“ But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man,“ by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”
