And he says in another place,“ You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he sufferedand, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him (niv)

The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life— only to take it up again. (niv)

But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. (niv)

Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. (niv)

but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.“ Come now; let us leave. (niv)

Jesus answered them,“ Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”They replied,“ It has taken forty- six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?”But the temple he had spoken of was his body. (niv)

who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. (niv)

If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. (niv)

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. (niv)

Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death— that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. (niv)

with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased.Then I said,‘ Here I am— it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, my God.’”First he said,“ Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”— though they were offered in accordance with the law.Then he said,“ Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second.And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. (niv)

“ I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. (niv)

By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. (niv)

God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it. (niv)

Jesus answered,“ You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.” (niv)

just as the Father knows me and I know the Father— and I lay down my life for the sheep. (niv)
