我以前也不認識他，可是那派我用水施洗的對我說：『如果你看見聖靈降臨在誰身上，又停留在誰身上，誰就是用聖靈施洗的那一位。』

And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,‘ The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

因為約翰是用水施洗，但過不了多少日子，你們就要受聖靈的洗。」

「我用水給你們施洗，是為了你們的悔改。但在我之後來的那一位，是比我更強有力的，我就是為他提鞋子也不配。他要用聖靈和火給你們施洗。

約翰就回答大家，說：「我用水給你們施洗，但有一位比我更強有力的要來，我就是為他解鞋帶也不配。他要用聖靈和火給你們施洗。

他拯救了我們；這不是本於我們所做的義行，而是照著他的憐憫，藉著重生的洗滌和聖靈的更新。神藉著我們的救主耶穌基督，將聖靈豐豐富富地傾注在我們身上，

我一開始講話，聖靈就降臨在他們身上，就像當初降臨在我們身上一樣。我就想起了主如此說的話，『約翰用水施洗，但你們將要受聖靈的洗。』

實際上，我們受洗也都是藉著一位聖靈成為一個身體——無論是猶太人或外邦人，無論是奴隸或自由人——並且我們都是受了一位聖靈的澆灌。

耶穌回答：「我確確實實地告訴你：一個人如果不是由水和聖靈所生的，就不能進入神的國。

問他們：「你們信的時候，是否領受了聖靈？」他們告訴他：「其實我們也沒有聽說過是否有聖靈。」保羅又問：「那麼，你們受的是什麼洗呢？」他們說：「是約翰的洗禮。」保羅說：「約翰所施的是悔改的洗禮，他告訴民眾當相信在他以後來的那一位，就是相信耶穌。」他們聽了，就受洗歸入了主耶穌的名。接著，保羅按手在他們身上，聖靈就臨到了他們。他們就說起殊言，又說預言。

神所差派的那一位，就說神的話語，因為神不靠著量度賜下聖靈。

他宣講，說：「在我之後，有一位比我更強有力的要來。我就是彎腰為他解鞋帶也不配。我用水給你們施洗，但他要用聖靈給你們施洗。」

彼得還在講這些話的時候，聖靈降臨在每個聽這話語的人身上。所有陪彼得一起來的割禮派的信徒，看見所賜的聖靈也被傾注在外邦人身上，都十分驚訝，因為他們聽見外邦人說著殊言，又尊神為大。於是彼得說：「這些人就像我們一樣也領受了聖靈，到底誰能阻止用水給他們施洗呢？」

我以前也不認識他，但為了讓他向以色列顯明，所以我來用水施洗。」

那時，耶穌從加利利來到約旦河，到了約翰那裡，要受他的洗禮。約翰想要阻止他，說：「我需要受你的洗禮，你反而到我這裡來嗎？」耶穌回答他，說：「現在你就答應吧，因為我們如此成全一切的義，是合宜的。」於是約翰答應了他。

於是他們都被聖靈充滿，就照著聖靈賜給他們的話，開始說出別種語言。
