我本来不认识祂，但那位差我来用水给人施洗的告诉我，‘你看见圣灵降下，住在谁身上，谁就是用圣灵给人施洗的。’

因为从前约翰用水给你们施洗，但再过几天，你们要受圣灵的洗。”

我用水为你们施洗，叫你们悔改。但在我之后，有位比我更有能力的要来，我连替祂提鞋都不配。祂要用圣灵和火为你们施洗。

约翰对众人说：“我是用水给你们施洗，但有一位能力比我更大的快来了，我就是给祂解鞋带也不配。祂要用圣灵和火给你们施洗。

借着重生之洗和圣灵的更新拯救了我们，这并非因为我们有义行，而是因为祂的怜悯。上帝借着我们的救主耶稣基督把圣灵丰丰富富地浇灌在我们身上。

“我开口讲话时，圣灵降在他们身上，跟当初降在我们身上的情形一模一样。我就想起主的话，‘约翰用水施洗，但你们要受圣灵的洗礼。’

不论是犹太人或希腊人，是奴隶或自由人，我们都领受了同一位圣灵的洗礼，归入了同一个身体，同饮一位圣灵。

耶稣说：“我实实在在地告诉你，人如果不是从水和圣灵生的，就不能进上帝的国。

保罗问他们：“你们信的时候有没有领受圣灵？”他们说：“没有！我们从来没有听过圣灵的事。”保罗说：“那么，你们受的是什么洗礼呢？”他们说：“是约翰的洗礼。”保罗说：“约翰的洗礼是悔改的洗礼，约翰告诉百姓要信在他以后来的那位——耶稣。”他们听后，立刻奉主耶稣的名受了洗。保罗把手按在他们身上时，圣灵便降在他们身上，他们就说方言，讲上帝的信息。

上帝所差来的，说的是上帝的话，因为上帝将圣灵无限量地赐给祂。

他传道说：“在我之后，有一位能力比我更大的要来，我连弯腰替祂解鞋带也不配。我是用水给你们施洗，但祂要用圣灵给你们施洗。”

彼得还在说话的时候，圣灵就降临在每一个听道的人身上。跟彼得一起来的那些严守割礼的信徒，看见圣灵的恩赐也浇灌到外族人身上，都很惊奇。因为他们听见这些人又说方言又赞美上帝。于是彼得说：“既然这些人已经和我们一样领受了圣灵，谁能阻止他们接受洗礼呢？”

我以前并不认识祂，现在我用水给人施洗，是要把祂显明给以色列人。”

后来，耶稣从加利利来到约旦河要约翰为祂施洗。约翰想要拦住祂，就说：“应该是你为我施洗才对，你反倒来找我？”耶稣回答说：“你就这样做吧！我们理当这样遵行上帝一切的要求。”于是约翰答应了。

大家都被圣灵充满，得到圣灵所赐的才能，说起别的语言来。
