他們又詰問他說：『那麼、是甚麼呢？你是以利亞麼？』他說：『我不是。』『你是那位神言人麼？』他回答說：『不是。』

他们又问他说：“这样，你是谁呢？是以利亚吗？”他说：“我不是。”“是那先知吗？”他回答说：“不是。”

他们又问他：“那么，你是谁？是以利亚吗？”他说：“我不是。”“是那位先知吗？”他回答：“不是。”

他们又问他：“那么，你是谁？是以利亚吗？”他说：“我不是。”“是那位先知吗？”他回答：“不是。”

他们问：“那么，你是谁？是以利亚吗？”他说：“不是。”他们又问：“你是那位先知吗？”他说：“也不是。”

他们又问：“那么你是谁？是以利亚吗？”他说：“我不是。”“是那位先知吗？”他回答：“不是。”

他们又问：“那么你是谁呢？是以利亚吗？”他说：“我不是。”“是那位先知吗？”他回答：“不是。”

他們又問他說：「這樣，你是誰呢？是以利亞嗎？」他說：「我不是。」「是那先知嗎？」他回答說：「不是。」

他們又問他：「那麼，你是誰？是以利亞嗎？」他說：「我不是。」「是那位先知嗎？」他回答：「不是。」

他們又問他：「那麼，你是誰？是以利亞嗎？」他說：「我不是。」「是那位先知嗎？」他回答：「不是。」

他們問：「那麼，你是誰？是以利亞嗎？」他說：「不是。」他們又問：「你是那位先知嗎？」他說：「也不是。」

他們又問：“那麼你是誰？是以利亞嗎？”他說：“我不是。”“是那位先知嗎？”他回答：“不是。”

他們又問：「那麼你是誰呢？是以利亞嗎？」他說：「我不是。」「是那位先知嗎？」他回答：「不是。」

曰、然則爾為以利亞乎、曰非也、爾為彼先知乎、曰否、

曰、爾為誰、以利亞乎、曰、否、曰、抑當來之先知乎、曰、否、

又問曰、爾為誰、以利亞乎、曰、否、曰、抑為彼先知乎、曰、否、

曰：『然則爾為伊理藹乎？』曰：『非也。』曰：『子殆先知乎？』曰：『否。』

They asked him,“ Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet?” He answered,“ No.”

They asked him,“ Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet we’ve been expecting?” they asked.“ No,” he answered.

And they asked him,“ What then? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet?” And he answered,“ No.”

“ Well then, who are you?” they asked.“ Are you Elijah?”“ No,” he replied.“ Are you the Prophet we are expecting?”“ No.”

“ What then?” they asked him.“ Are you Elijah?”“ I am not,” he said.“ Are you the Prophet?”“ No,” he answered.

And so they asked him,“ What then? Are you Elijah?” And he* said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet?” And he answered,“ No.”

And they asked him,“ What then? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet?” And he answered,“ No.”

And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he saith, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.

“ What then?” they asked him.“ Are you Elijah?”“ I am not,” he said.“ Are you the Prophet?”“ No,” he answered.

And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

So they asked him,“ Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not!”“ Are you the Prophet?” He answered,“ No!”

They asked him,“ What then? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the prophet?” He answered,“ No.”

『看吧，永恆主大而可畏懼之日未到以前我必差遣神言人以利亞到你們這裏來。

你們若肯接受，這人就是那將要來的以利亞。

『永恆主你的上帝要從你中間、從你的族弟兄中、給你興起一位神言人來、像我一樣——你們要聽他——這正是你在何烈山當大眾的日子向永恆主你的上帝所要求的話，說：「不要讓我再聽永恆主我的上帝的聲音了；這偉大的火也永不要讓我再看了，免得我死亡。」永恆主對我說：「他們所說的、都說得對。我要從他們的族弟兄中給他們興起一位神言人、像你一樣；我要把我的話放在他口中，他必將我所吩咐他的一切話都對他們說。

他們說：『有人說是施洗者約翰；另有人說是以利亞；又另有人說是耶利米，或是神言人中的一位。』

他們詰問約翰說：『你既不是上帝所膏立者基督，又不是以利亞，也不是那位神言人，那你為甚麼施洗呢？』

門徒就詢問他說：『那麼經學士為甚麼說以利亞必須先來呢？』耶穌回答說：『「以利亞來，要復興萬事！」我告訴你們，以利亞已經來了，人卻不認得他，反倒任意待他；照樣，人子也將要在他們手下受苦了。』

聽了這些話，羣眾中就有人說：『這個人真是那位神言人哪。』

他必行在主面前為先導，具有以利亞的精神和能力，使為父者的心回轉而向兒女，使悖逆的人回轉、到義人的明達中，為主豫備準備好了的子民。』

你們出去，到底是為了甚麼？要看神言人麼？是的，我告訴你們；而且還是比神言人大多的呢！這個人就是經上所記到的，說：「看哪，我差遣我的使者在你前面，他要在你前面準備你的道路。」我實在告訴你們，婦人所生的，沒有一個興起來比施洗者約翰更大的；然而在天國裏最小的比他還大！
