“ Beware of your friends; do not trust anyone in your clan. For every one of them is a deceiver, and every friend a slanderer.

Be on guard against your friends. Do not trust the members of your own family. Every one of them cheats. Every friend tells lies.

Let everyone beware of his neighbor, and put no trust in any brother, for every brother is a deceiver, and every neighbor goes about as a slanderer.

“ Beware of your neighbor! Don’t even trust your brother! For brother takes advantage of brother, and friend slanders friend.

Everyone has to be on guard against his friend. Don’t trust any brother, for every brother will certainly deceive, and every friend spread slander.

謹防鄰里、勿信友朋、對眷愛之妻、勿言機密之事、子欺父、女爭母、媳逆姑、則門內之人、等諸仇敵矣、

彼悉違予、評人長短、若金與銅鐵交融、

彼世人兮、言而不實、厥口諂諛兮、二三其德。啟口兮諂媚、掉舌兮矜誇、彼其之子兮、見絕於耶和華、

維彼敵人、心所藏惟詐、口所言惟偽。其言雖善、爾毋信之、其心所藏可惡者非一端。

勿往來於閭里、評人短長、勿為妄證、置人於死、我耶和華所命如是。

匿怨而友、播揚人惡、愚者之所為也。

曰今以後、不祇名雅各、更名以色列、蓋爾得志於上帝前、與人爭無不勝。

宗族兄弟、疇昔欺爾、群驅逐爾、今雖善言相待、亦勿信之。

曰爾弟來、施其詭謀、奪爾福祉、以掃曰、宜其名雅各彼欺我者再、昔奪我長子業、今又奪我祝嘏耶、又曰、豈更無嘏、可為我祝乎。

不背友朋、不誹人兮、不出惡言、辱里鄰兮、

妄證者若梃、若刃、若利鏃、

勿以我來平世、我來非以平世、轉興戎耳、蓋我來、則子疏其父、女疏其母、婦疏其姑、

謹防若人、解爾於公會、鞭爾於會堂、

慾不可縱、傷乃良朋、主必伸其冤、我素丁寧告爾、

爾將為父母兄弟親戚朋友所解、中有人見殺、

當去諸暴戾、詭譎、偽善、媢嫉、毀謗、如孩提初生索乳、宜求真道、使爾漸長、

作妄証以誣人民、搆釁隙以間兄弟。

六惡七罪、耶和華所疾、

逵衢之間、恆有惡黨、或行詭譎、或尚詐偽。今有人焉、矜詡侮予、非予寇讎、非予仇隙、設或是之、猶可隱忍、杜門不出、

揚虛誕以殺人、食岡巒之祭品、行諸淫亂、

是時也、兄弟將致兄弟於死、父之於子亦然、子攻父母而死之、
