他們的表情顯出他們心術不正，他們跟所多瑪人一樣對自己的罪惡津津樂道，毫不隱瞞。他們必大禍臨頭，自招毀滅。

勇士啊，你為何以作惡為榮？上帝的慈愛永遠長存。

伸冤在我，我必報應，到時候他們必站不住腳，他們遭禍的日子近了，他們的末日來了。』

但城中的耶和華是公義的，祂絕不做不義之事。祂每天早晨伸張正義，從不間斷。然而，不義之人卻不知羞恥。

以法蓮啊，你要在受懲罰的日子淪為廢墟！我要在以色列各支派中宣告將來必要發生的事！

那時，祭司和百姓，主人和僕人，主母和婢女，買的和賣的，貸的和借的，債主和債戶都必同遭厄運。

他們的神就是自己的肚腹，他們以自己的羞恥為榮，只想著地上的事，他們的結局是滅亡。

你們白天黑夜都要跌倒，先知也要跟你們一起跌倒，所以我要毀滅你們的母親以色列。我的子民因不認識我而遭毀滅。因為你們拒絕認識我，我也要拒絕讓你們做我的祭司；因為你們忘記我的律法，我也要忘記你們的兒女。

你的首領圖謀惡事，好像咆哮著撕碎獵物的獅子，他們草菅人命，搶奪財寶，使多人變成寡婦。你的祭司強解我的律法，褻瀆我的聖物。他們聖俗不分，也不教導人分辨潔淨的和污穢的。他們藐視我的安息日，褻瀆我。你的首領好像撕碎獵物的豺狼，殺人流血，謀取不義之財。你的先知對他們說虛假的異象和占卜，像用白灰刷牆一樣掩蓋他們的罪惡，說，耶和華這樣說，其實耶和華沒有說。你的居民強取豪奪，欺壓貧困的，虐待寄居的，無法無天。我想在他們中間尋找一位重修城牆的人，站在我面前為這地方堵住缺口，免得我毀滅這裡。可是，我一個也找不到。因此，我要向他們傾倒我的烈怒，用怒火滅盡他們，照他們的所作所為報應他們。這是主耶和華說的。』」

但以色列人沒有歸向萬軍之耶和華，也不尋求祂。因此，耶和華要在一日之間剷除以色列的頭和尾。頭是指他們的長老和首領，尾是指教人虛謊之事的假先知。這些帶領者使百姓步入歧途、走向滅亡。他們目無上帝，行事邪惡，口出狂言。所以，主不喜歡他們的青年，也不憐憫他們的孤兒寡婦。雖然如此，耶和華的怒氣還沒有止息，祂降罰的手沒有收回。
