彼行可惡之事、豈有羞惡之心哉、恬不知羞、毫不懷慙、故我耶和華降災之時、必使傾圮、淪胥以亡。

他们的表情显出他们心术不正，他们跟所多玛人一样对自己的罪恶津津乐道，毫不隐瞒。他们必大祸临头，自招毁灭。

勇士啊，你为何以作恶为荣？上帝的慈爱永远长存。

申冤在我，我必报应，到时候他们必站不住脚，他们遭祸的日子近了，他们的末日来了。’

但城中的耶和华是公义的，祂绝不做不义之事。祂每天早晨伸张正义，从不间断。然而，不义之人却不知羞耻。

以法莲啊，你要在受惩罚的日子沦为废墟！我要在以色列各支派中宣告将来必要发生的事！

那时，祭司和百姓，主人和仆人，主母和婢女，买的和卖的，贷的和借的，债主和债户都必同遭厄运。

他们的神就是自己的肚腹，他们以自己的羞耻为荣，只想着地上的事，他们的结局是灭亡。

你们白天黑夜都要跌倒，先知也要跟你们一起跌倒，所以我要毁灭你们的母亲以色列。我的子民因不认识我而遭毁灭。因为你们拒绝认识我，我也要拒绝让你们做我的祭司；因为你们忘记我的律法，我也要忘记你们的儿女。

你的首领图谋恶事，好像咆哮着撕碎猎物的狮子，他们草菅人命，抢夺财宝，使多人变成寡妇。你的祭司强解我的律法，亵渎我的圣物。他们圣俗不分，也不教导人分辨洁净的和污秽的。他们藐视我的安息日，亵渎我。你的首领好像撕碎猎物的豺狼，杀人流血，谋取不义之财。你的先知对他们说虚假的异象和占卜，像用白灰刷墙一样掩盖他们的罪恶，说，耶和华这样说，其实耶和华没有说。你的居民强取豪夺，欺压贫困的，虐待寄居的，无法无天。我想在他们中间寻找一位重修城墙的人，站在我面前为这地方堵住缺口，免得我毁灭这里。可是，我一个也找不到。因此，我要向他们倾倒我的烈怒，用怒火灭尽他们，照他们的所作所为报应他们。这是主耶和华说的。’”

但以色列人没有归向万军之耶和华，也不寻求祂。因此，耶和华要在一日之间铲除以色列的头和尾。头是指他们的长老和首领，尾是指教人虚谎之事的假先知。这些带领者使百姓步入歧途、走向灭亡。他们目无上帝，行事邪恶，口出狂言。所以，主不喜欢他们的青年，也不怜悯他们的孤儿寡妇。虽然如此，耶和华的怒气还没有止息，祂降罚的手没有收回。
