“‘ Cut off your hair and throw it away; take up a lament on the barren heights, for the Lord has rejected and abandoned this generation that is under his wrath.

The Lord says to the people of Jerusalem,“ Cut off your hair. Throw it away. Sing a song of sadness on the bare hilltops. I am very angry with you. I have turned my back on you. I have deserted you.

“‘ Cut off your hair and cast it away; raise a lamentation on the bare heights, for the Lord has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.’

Shave your head in mourning, and weep alone on the mountains. For the Lord has rejected and forsaken this generation that has provoked his fury.’

Cut off the hair of your sacred vow and throw it away. Raise up a dirge on the barren heights, for the LORD has rejected and abandoned the generation under his wrath.’

約伯就起來，撕裂外袍，剃了頭，俯伏在地敬拜，

猶大啊，為了你所喜愛的兒女，你要剪髮，剃光頭，要使你的頭光禿，如同禿鷹，因為他們被擄去離開你了。

人必稱他們為被拋棄的銀子，因為耶和華已經拋棄了他們。

他們連大帶小，都必在這地死亡，不得埋葬。人必不為他們哀哭，不為他們割劃自己，也不剃光頭。

各人頭上光禿，鬍鬚剪短，手有劃傷，腰束麻布。

摩押上到神廟和底本的丘壇去哭泣；它因尼波和米底巴哀號，各人頭上光禿，鬍鬚剃淨。他們在街市上腰束麻布，都在房頂和廣場上哀號，淚流不停。

萬軍之耶和華如此說：「你們要考慮，將唱哀歌的婦女召來，差人召善哭的婦女前來，叫她們速速為我們舉哀，使我們淚眼汪汪，使我們的眼皮湧出淚水。因為有哀聲從錫安傳來：『我們竟然敗落！我們何等慚愧！我們撇下土地，人拆毀了我們的房屋。』」婦女們哪，當聽耶和華的話，領受他口中的言語；當教導你們的女兒舉哀，各人教導女伴唱哀歌。因為死亡從窗戶進來，進入我們的宮殿，從外邊剪除孩童，從街上剪除少年。

約翰看見許多法利賽人和撒都該人也來受洗，就對他們說：「毒蛇的孽種啊，誰指示你們逃避那將要來的憤怒呢？

迦薩成了光禿，亞實基倫歸於無有。平原中所剩的啊，你割劃自己，要到幾時呢？

邪惡淫亂的世代求看神蹟，除了約拿的神蹟以外，再沒有神蹟給他們看了。」於是耶穌離開他們走了。

這乖僻彎曲的世代向他行了敗壞的事；因着他們的弊病，不再是他的兒女。

耶穌回答他們：「邪惡淫亂的世代求看神蹟，除了先知約拿的神蹟以外，再沒有神蹟給他們看了。

耶和華就厭棄以色列所有的後裔，使他們受苦，把他們交在搶奪他們的人手中，直到他把他們從自己面前趕出去。

你當為以色列的領袖們唱哀歌，

一個月之內，我廢除了三個牧人，因為我的心厭煩他們，他們的心也憎惡我。我就說：「我不牧養你們。要死的，由他死；滅亡的，由他滅亡；剩餘的，由他們彼此吞食。」

我實在告訴你們，這一切的罪都要歸到這世代了。」

「人子啊，要為推羅王作哀歌，對他說，主耶和華如此說：你曾是完美的典範，智慧充足，全然美麗。

彼得還用更多別的話作見證，勸勉他們說：「你們當救自己脫離這彎曲的世代。」
