你請到我的地方，就是那在示羅的，我起先使我的名居住的所在，去察看我因我人民以色列的邪惡對那地所行的怎麼樣。

“‘ Go now to the place in Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for my Name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.

非利士人一打起仗來，以色列人就被擊敗，各向自己的帳棚逃跑；那一場擊殺大極了；以色列人中倒斃了三萬步兵。上帝的櫃被拿去；以利的兩個兒子何弗尼非尼哈也死了。

上帝的殿在示羅多少日子，但人為自己設立米迦所造的雕像也多少日子。

那麼我就必使這殿同示羅一樣，我必使這城變為地上萬國所引為受咒詛之對象。」』

她說：『榮耀從以色列流亡去了，因為上帝的櫃被拿了去了。』

以色列人全會眾都聚集在示羅，把會棚立在那裏；那地在他們面前被征服了。

他丟棄了示羅的帳幕，他在人間居住的帳棚；他又將他的能力交與人掠去，將他的榮美交在敵人手中。將他的人民送交與刀劍，又震怒他的產業。他們的青年人被火吞滅；他們的處女也沒有喜歌。他們的祭司倒斃於刀劍之下，他們的寡婦並不哀哭。

人民來到營中，以色列的長老就說：『永恆主今天為甚麼擊敗我們於非利士人面前呢？我們將永恆主的約櫃從示羅接到我們這裏來吧，好讓他在我們中間拯救我們脫離敵人的手掌。』於是人民打發了人到示羅，從那裏將坐在兩個基路伯上的萬軍之永恆主的約櫃抬來；以利的兩個兒子何弗尼非尼哈跟上帝的約櫃一同來。

那時你們就必須有一個地方、是永恆主你們的上帝所選擇、做他名之居所的地方；你們要將我所吩咐你們獻的：燔祭、和別的祭物、十分之一獻物、和手奉的提獻物、以及一切最好的還願祭、就是你們所許願獻與永恆主的、都帶到那地方。

這人年年從本城上示羅去敬拜、獻祭給萬軍之永恆主；在那裏有以利的兩個兒子、何弗尼、非尼哈、做永恆主的祭司。

不，永恆主你們的上帝從你們眾族派中選擇了甚麼地方做立他名的所在，你們就要到那地方、訪問他的居所；
