犹大王西底家必不能逃脱迦勒底人的手，定要交在巴比伦王手中，他要亲眼看到巴比伦王，亲口跟他说话。

以后，我要将犹大王西底家和他的臣仆百姓，就是在城内，从瘟疫、刀剑、饥荒中幸存的人，都交在巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒手中，交在仇敌和寻索其命的人手中。巴比伦王必用刀击杀他们，不顾惜，不同情，不怜悯。这是耶和华说的。’

“人必将你的后妃和你的儿女带到迦勒底人那里；你也不得脱离他们的手，必被巴比伦王的手捉住，这城也必被火焚烧。”

你们说：“不然，我们要骑马奔走”，所以你们必然奔走。你们又说：“我们要骑快马”，所以追赶你们的，也必飞快。一人叱喝，令千人逃跑，五人叱喝，你们都逃跑；以致剩下的如山顶的旗杆，如山冈上的大旗。

追赶我们的比空中的鹰更快；他们在山上追逼我们，在旷野埋伏，等候我们。耶和华的受膏者是我们鼻中的气，被抓到他们的坑里，论到他，我们曾说：“我们必在他荫下，在列国中存活。”

我看见主站在祭坛旁，说：“你要击打柱顶，使门槛震动，要剪除众人当中为首的，他们中最后的，我必用刀杀戮；无一人能逃避，无一人能逃脱。“虽然他们挖透阴间，我的手必从那里拉出他们；虽然他们爬到天上，我必从那里拿下他们；虽然藏在迦密山顶，我必在那里搜寻，擒拿他们；虽然离开我眼前藏在海底，我必在那里命令蛇咬他们；虽然被仇敌掳去，我也必在那里命令刀剑杀戮他们；我必定睛在他们身上，降祸不降福。”

他们中间的君王也必在天黑时把物件背在肩上带走。他们要挖通墙壁，从其中带出去。他必蒙住脸，眼看不见地。我要把我的网撒在他身上，他就被我的罗网缠住。我要带他到迦勒底人之地的巴比伦；他没有看见那地，就死在那里。我要把四围帮助他的和他所有的军队分散到四方，也要拔刀追赶他们。

耶利米又对西底家王说：“我在什么事上得罪你，或你的臣仆，或这百姓，你们竟将我囚在监里呢？

快跑的无从避难，壮士无法使力，勇士也不能自救；拿弓的站立不住，腿快的不能逃脱，骑马的也不能自救。

我要把我的网撒在他身上，他就被我的罗网缠住。我要带他到巴比伦，在那里因他背叛我的罪惩罚他。所有逃跑的军队必倒在刀下；剩余的也必分散四方。你们就知道说这话的是我—耶和华。”
