犹大王西底家必不能逃脱迦勒底人的手，定要交在巴比伦王的手中，要口对口彼此说话，眼对眼彼此相看。

以后我要将犹大王西底家和他的臣仆百姓，就是在城内，从瘟疫、刀剑、饥荒中剩下的人，都交在巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒的手中和他们仇敌，并寻索其命的人手中。巴比伦王必用刀击杀他们，不顾惜，不可怜，不怜悯。这是耶和华说的。’

人必将你的后妃和你的儿女带到迦勒底人那里；你也不得脱离他们的手，必被巴比伦王的手捉住；你也必使这城被火焚烧。’”

你们却说：“不然，我们要骑马奔走。”所以你们必然奔走；又说：“我们要骑飞快的牲口。”所以追赶你们的，也必飞快。一人叱喝，必令千人逃跑；五人叱喝，你们都必逃跑；以致剩下的，好像山顶的旗杆，冈上的大旗。

追赶我们的比空中的鹰更快；他们在山上追逼我们，在旷野埋伏，等候我们。耶和华的受膏者好比我们鼻中的气，在他们的坑中被捉住；我们曾论到他说：“我们必在他荫下，在列国中存活。”

我看见主站在祭坛旁边；他说：“你要击打柱顶，使门槛震动，打碎柱顶，落在众人头上；所剩下的人，我必用刀杀戮，无一人能逃避，无一人能逃脱。他们虽然挖透阴间，我的手必取出他们来；虽然爬上天去，我必拿下他们来；虽然藏在迦密山顶，我必搜寻，捉出他们来；虽然从我眼前藏在海底，我必命蛇咬他们；虽被仇敌掳去，我必命刀剑杀戮他们；我必向他们定住眼目，降祸不降福。”

迦勒底的军队追赶他们，在耶利哥的平原追上西底家，将他拿住，带到哈马地的利比拉、巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒那里；尼布甲尼撒就审判他。

他们中间的君王也必在天黑的时候将物件搭在肩头上带出去。他们要挖通了墙，从其中带出去。他必蒙住脸，眼看不见地。我必将我的网撒在他身上，他必在我的网罗中缠住。我必带他到迦勒底人之地的巴比伦；他虽死在那里，却看不见那地。周围一切帮助他的和他所有的军队，我必分散四方，也要拔刀追赶他们。

耶利米又对西底家王说：“我在什么事上得罪你，或你的臣仆，或这百姓，你竟将我囚在监里呢？

快跑的不能逃脱；有力的不能用力；刚勇的也不能自救。拿弓的不能站立；腿快的不能逃脱；骑马的也不能自救。

我必将我的网撒在他身上，他必在我的网罗中缠住。我必带他到巴比伦，并要在那里因他干犯我的罪刑罚他。他的一切军队，凡逃跑的，都必倒在刀下；所剩下的，也必分散四方。你们就知道说这话的是我耶和华。”
