我也必把犹大王西底家和众领袖交在他们仇敌的手中，和那些寻索他们性命的人的手中，以及那些从你们面前暂时撤退的巴比伦王的军队的手中。

犹大王西底家必不能逃脱迦勒底人的手，他必交在巴比伦王的手中；他们必面对面彼此说话，眼对眼互相对看。

然后，我必把犹大王西底家和他的臣民，就是在这城里经过瘟疫、刀剑之灾和饥荒而幸存的人，都交在巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒和他们的仇敌，以及寻索他们性命的人的手中。尼布甲尼撒要用刀剑击杀他们，绝不顾惜，不留情，不怜悯。’”这是耶和华的宣告。

你所有的后妃和你的儿女，都必被带出来，去到迦勒底人那里；你自己也不能从他们的手里逃脱，因为你必被巴比伦王的手抓住；这城也必被火烧毁（“这城也必被火烧毁”有古抄本作“你必放火烧毁这城”）。”

你们却说：“不！我们要骑马奔跑。”所以你们真的要逃跑；你们又说：“我们要骑快马。”所以那些追赶你们的，也必快速！一个敌人就可以威吓你们一千个人，若五个敌人威吓你们，你们都要逃跑了！以致你们所剩下的，必孤立如同山顶上的旗杆，冈陵上的旗帜。

追赶我们的比空中的鹰还快；他们在山上追赶我们，在旷野埋伏攻击我们。耶和华所膏立的，我们鼻孔的气息，在他们的陷坑中被捉住；我们论到他曾说：“我们要在他的荫庇之下，在列国中存活。”

我见主站在祭坛旁，他说：“击打圣殿的柱顶，使门槛都震动。砍掉它们，落在众人的头上，剩下的人我必用刀杀死；没有一个能逃走，没有一人逃脱。如果他们下到阴间，就是在那里，我的手必把他们揪上来；如果他们升到天上，就是在那里，我必把他们拉下来；如果他们躲在迦密山顶，就是在那里，我必搜寻他们，抓他们出来；如果他们要躲避我，藏在海底，就是在那里，我必命令蛇去咬他们；如果他们被仇敌掳去，就是在那里，我必命令刀剑杀死他们；我必定睛在他们身上，降祸不降福。”

但迦勒底人的军队追赶他们，在耶利哥的原野上追上了西底家，把他拿住，带到哈马地的利比拉去见巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒；尼布甲尼撒就宣判他的罪状。

他们中间的君王必在天黑的时候，把东西扛在肩头上，从他们挖穿的墙带出去；他必蒙住自己的脸，不能看见这地。我要把我的网撒在他身上，他必被我的网罗网住；我要把他带到巴比伦，就是迦勒底人之地；他不会看见那地，却要死在那里。我要把他周围所有的人，就是所有帮助他的和他所有的军队，分散到四方去，也要拔出刀来追赶他们。

耶利米再对西底家王说：“我有什么得罪你，或你的臣仆，或这人民，你竟然把我送进监狱里呢？

行动迅速的不能逃走，强而有力的不能施展他的勇力，勇士也不能救自己；拿弓的人站立不住，跑得快的不能逃走，骑马的也不能救自己。

我要把我的网撒在他身上，他必在我的网罗中被捕获；我要把他带到巴比伦去，并且要在那里因他对我不忠的罪审判他。他军中所有的精兵（按照《马索拉文本》，“精兵”作“逃跑的人”；现参照其他抄本、《七十士译本》和其他古译本翻译），都必倒在刀下；剩下的也必分散到四方；你们就知道说这话的是我耶和华。
