追趕我們的人比飛鷹更快，他們在山上追捕我們，在曠野伏擊我們。耶和華膏立的王——我們的生命之氣落入他們的陷阱。我們原希望藉他的蔭庇立足於列國中。

我看見主站在祭壇旁，祂說：「要擊打柱頂，使殿的根基震動；要打碎柱頂，使殿宇坍塌壓死眾人。僥倖生還的，我要用刀劍殺掉，沒有一個能逃脫，沒有一個能倖免。即使他們挖洞鑽進陰間，我也要把他們揪出來；即使他們爬上高天，我也要把他們拉下來；即使他們藏在迦密山的峰頂，我也要去搜尋，捉住他們；即使他們潛到海底，我也要派海蛇去吞咬他們；即使他們被敵人擄去，我也要命刀劍追殺他們。我要定睛在他們身上，不是要賜福而是要降禍。」

他們當中的首領必在黑夜背著行裝出發，在牆上挖洞鑽出去，而且必蒙著臉，看不見地。我必撒開網羅捕捉他，把他帶到迦勒底人的巴比倫。他必看不見那地方，卻要死在那裡。我要把他周圍的隨從和所有軍隊驅散到四方，並且拔刀追殺他們。

耶利米又問他：「我在什麼事上得罪了你、你的臣僕或人民，以致你們把我囚在監牢中？

快捷的無法逃遁，強壯的無力可施，勇猛的救不了自己，拉弓的站立不住，腿快的無法逃脫，騎馬的救不了自己。

我要撒開網羅抓住他，把他帶到巴比倫，審判他對我不忠的罪。他所有的精兵都要喪身刀下，餘下的也要四散逃竄。這樣，你們就知道這是我耶和華說的。
