於是城破、迦勒底人在城四圍、王與諸戰士由近王園兩城中之門、夜間出城而遁、望平原平原或作亞拉巴下同而走、

Then the city wall was broken through, and the whole army fled. They left the city at night through the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden, though the Babylonians were surrounding the city. They fled toward the Arabah,

Then the Babylonians broke through the city wall. Judah’s whole army ran away. They left the city at night. They went out through the gate between the two walls that were near the king’s garden. They escaped even though the Babylonians surrounded the city. Judah’s army ran toward the Arabah Valley.

猶大王西底家和所有的軍兵看見他們，便逃跑，就在夜間從王家園子的路、兩城牆中間的門、出城，按亞拉巴的路向出走。迦勒底人的軍隊追趕他們，在耶利哥原野追上了西底家，將他拿住，把他帶上去到哈馬地的利比拉、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒那裏；尼布甲尼撒就宣佈判語定他的罪。巴比倫王在利比拉當西底家眼前將他的眾兒子都宰殺掉；巴比倫王也宰殺了猶大所有顯貴的人，並將西底家的一對眼睛都弄瞎了，然後用銅鍊鎖着他，要將他帶到巴比倫去。

渡口已被佔據了；防禦設備給火燒了；軍兵都驚惶失措。

她的壯丁必仆倒在她的廣場上，一切軍兵都必在那日子消滅死寂：這是萬軍之永恆主發神諭說的。

『永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：你去告訴猶大王西底家說：「永恆主這麼說：看吧，我必將這城交在巴比倫王手中，使他放火燒它。你、必不能逃脫他的手，你一定要被捉住，交在他手中；你必眼對眼地親眼見到巴比倫王；他必口對口地跟你說話；你必到巴比倫去。」

若不是他們的磐石把他們交付出來，若不是永恆主把他們送交給我們，我們一人怎能追趕他們千人呢？我們兩個人怎能使他們萬人逃跑呢？

我要向你們板着臉，你們就會在仇敵面前被擊敗；恨惡你們的必管轄你們；沒有人追趕，你們也逃跑。

至於你們剩下的人呢、他們在仇敵之地時、我必使怯懦餒弱之氣進他們的心；飄蕩落葉的響聲也會追趕他們；他們必逃跑、像人逃避刀劍；沒有人追趕，他們也跌倒。

『永恆主必使你在仇敵面前被擊敗；你從一條路出去攻打他們，必由七條路、從他們面前逃跑；你竟要成為地上萬國所引為令人不寒而慄的例子。

主啊，以色列人既在仇敵面前轉背逃跑，我還有甚麼可說的呢？迦南人和這地所有的居民聽見了，一定會把我們圍住，將我們的名從地上剪除掉；那時你為你至大之名要怎麼辦呢？』永恆主對約書亞說：『起來；你為甚麼這樣將臉伏地呢？以色列人犯了罪，不但越犯了我的約、我所吩咐他們守的約，反而取了該被毁滅歸神之物；又偷竊，又欺詐，私放在自己的物件裏。因此以色列人在他們仇敵面前立不住，在仇敵面前轉背逃跑，因為他們成了該被毁滅歸神的。你們若不把該被毁滅歸神之物從你們中間消滅掉，我就不再和你們同在了。
