There at Riblah, in the land of Hamath, the king had them executed. So Judah went into captivity, away from her land.

Then I said,“ Lord, how long?” And He answered:“ Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant, The houses are without a man, The land is utterly desolate,The Lord has removed men far away, And the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.

And there stood before them seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, and in their midst stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan. Each man had a censer in his hand, and a thick cloud of incense went up.Then He said to me,“ Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the room of his idols? For they say,‘ The Lord does not see us, the Lord has forsaken the land.’”And He said to me,“ Turn again, and you will see greater abominations that they are doing.”So He brought me to the door of the north gate of the LORD’s house; and to my dismay, women were sitting there weeping for Tammuz.Then He said to me,“ Have you seen this, O son of man? Turn again, you will see greater abominations than these.”So He brought me into the inner court of the LORD’s house; and there, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, and they were worshiping the sun toward the east.And He said to me,“ Have you seen this, O son of man? Is it a trivial thing to the house of Judah to commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence; then they have returned to provoke Me to anger. Indeed they put the branch to their nose.Therefore I also will act in fury. My eye will not spare nor will I have pity; and though they cry in My ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.”

The land shall be entirely emptied and utterly plundered, For the Lord has spoken this word.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you will soon utterly perish from the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess; you will not prolong your days in it, but will be utterly destroyed.

Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the East Gate of the LORD’s house, which faces eastward; and there at the door of the gate were twenty-five men, among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.And He said to me:“ Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity and give wicked counsel in this city,who say,‘ The time is not near to build houses; this city is the caldron, and we are the meat.’Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man!”Then the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and said to me,“ Speak!‘ Thus says the Lord:“ Thus you have said, O house of Israel; for I know the things that come into your mind.You have multiplied your slain in this city, and you have filled its streets with the slain.”Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Your slain whom you have laid in its midst, they are the meat, and this city is the caldron; but I shall bring you out of the midst of it.You have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you,” says the Lord GOD.“ And I will bring you out of its midst, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and execute judgments on you.You shall fall by the sword. I will judge you at the border of Israel. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.This city shall not be your caldron, nor shall you be the meat in its midst. I will judge you at the border of Israel.

When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer,

I will deliver them to trouble into all the kingdoms of the earth, for their harm, to be a reproach and a byword, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them.And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence among them, till they are consumed from the land that I gave to them and their fathers.’”

“ The Lord will bring you and the king whom you set over you to a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods— wood and stone.

“ Because from the least of them even to the greatest of them, Everyone is given to covetousness; And from the prophet even to the priest, Everyone deals falsely.They have also healed the hurt of My people slightly, Saying,‘ Peace, peace!’ When there is no peace.Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed; Nor did they know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; At the time I punish them, They shall be cast down,” says the Lord.

So they took the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he pronounced judgment on him.

And the Lord said,“ I will also remove Judah from My sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said,‘ My name shall be there.’”

And the Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel, afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of plunderers, until He had cast them from His sight.

until the Lord removed Israel out of His sight, as He had said by all His servants the prophets. So Israel was carried away from their own land to Assyria, as it is to this day.

But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left in the land of Judah the poor people, who had nothing, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

I will scatter you among the nations and draw out a sword after you; your land shall be desolate and your cities waste.Then the land shall enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies’ land; then the land shall rest and enjoy its sabbaths.As long as it lies desolate it shall rest— for the time it did not rest on your sabbaths when you dwelt in it.

from Mount Hor you shall mark out your border to the entrance of Hamath; then the direction of the border shall be toward Zedad;the border shall proceed to Ziphron, and it shall end at Hazar Enan. This shall be your northern border.‘ You shall mark out your eastern border from Hazar Enan to Shepham;the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain; the border shall go down and reach to the eastern side of the Sea of Chinnereth;
