這些事以後、當波斯王亞達薛西執掌國政的時候、有個以斯拉，是西萊雅的子孫：西萊雅是亞撒利雅的兒子，亞撒利雅是希勒家的兒子，

城裏剩下的餘民、和那些投降了巴比倫王的人、以及餘剩的大眾或匠人、護衛長尼布撒拉旦、都使他們流亡了去。

在你的院子一日，勝過在別處一千日，寧可在我上帝之殿的門檻上站着，也不願在邪惡之公館住一代。

五月十日、就是巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒王十九年、侍立在巴比倫王面前的護衛長尼布撒拉旦來到耶路撒冷。

可拉的曾孫、以比雅撒的孫子、可利的兒子沙龍，和他父系家屬的族弟兄可拉人、是管理事務之工、把守帳棚門檻的；他們的祖宗也曾經管理永恆主的營盤、把守出入之處。從前以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈作過他們的總管（願永恆主和他同在！）米施利米雅的兒子撒迦利雅是會棚出入處的看門者。這些受選拔做把守門檻者共有二百一十二人；他們在自己村莊裏登記了家譜；他們是大衛和先見撒母耳所派立、來擔當這受託職任的。他們和他們的子孫按班次來看守永恆主之殿、會棚之殿、的門；在東西南北四方都有看門者。他們的族弟兄、那些在他們村莊裏的、往往每七天就來、和他們同工。這四個看門主任都是利未人。他們是受託經常上班看守上帝之殿的貯藏室和府庫。
