Your holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.Our holy and beautiful temple, Where our fathers praised You, Is burned up with fire; And all our pleasant things are laid waste.

For they do not know to do right,’ Says the Lord,‘ Who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.’”Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ An adversary shall be all around the land; He shall sap your strength from you, And your palaces shall be plundered.”

But I will send a fire upon Judah, And it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.”

Fill it with choice cuts;Take the choice of the flock. Also pile fuel bones under it, Make it boil well, And let the cuts simmer in it.”‘ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Woe to the bloody city, To the pot whose scum is in it, And whose scum is not gone from it! Bring it out piece by piece, On which no lot has fallen.For her blood is in her midst; She set it on top of a rock; She did not pour it on the ground, To cover it with dust.That it may raise up fury and take vengeance, I have set her blood on top of a rock, That it may not be covered.”‘ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Woe to the bloody city! I too will make the pyre great.Heap on the wood, Kindle the fire; Cook the meat well, Mix in the spices, And let the cuts be burned up.“ Then set the pot empty on the coals, That it may become hot and its bronze may burn, That its filthiness may be melted in it, That its scum may be consumed.She has grown weary with lies, And her great scum has not gone from her. Let her scum be in the fire!In your filthiness is lewdness. Because I have cleansed you, and you were not cleansed, You will not be cleansed of your filthiness anymore, Till I have caused My fury to rest upon you.I, the Lord, have spoken it; It shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not hold back, Nor will I spare, Nor will I relent; According to your ways And according to your deeds They will judge you,” Says the Lord God.’”

Behold, I will command,’ says the Lord,‘ and cause them to return to this city. They will fight against it and take it and burn it with fire; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without inhabitant.’”

‘ As for the beauty of his ornaments, He set it in majesty; But they made from it The images of their abominations— Their detestable things; Therefore I have made it Like refuse to them.I will give it as plunder Into the hands of strangers, And to the wicked of the earth as spoil; And they shall defile it.I will turn My face from them, And they will defile My secret place; For robbers shall enter it and defile it.

‘ so they shall surrender all your wives and children to the Chaldeans. You shall not escape from their hand, but shall be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon. And you shall cause this city to be burned with fire.’”

And the Chaldeans shall come back and fight against this city, and take it and burn it with fire.”’Thus says the Lord:‘ Do not deceive yourselves, saying,“ The Chaldeans will surely depart from us,” for they will not depart.For though you had defeated the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and there remained only wounded men among them, they would rise up, every man in his tent, and burn the city with fire.’”

Open your doors, O Lebanon, That fire may devour your cedars.

Who says,‘ I will build myself a wide house with spacious chambers, And cut out windows for it, Paneling it with cedar And painting it with vermilion.’

And the Chaldeans burned the king’s house and the houses of the people with fire, and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive to Babylon the remnant of the people who remained in the city and those who defected to him, with the rest of the people who remained.

And Jesus said to them,“ Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

therefore I will do to the house which is called by My name, in which you trust, and to this place which I gave to you and your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.

‘ speak to the house of Israel,“ Thus says the Lord God:‘ Behold, I will profane My sanctuary, your arrogant boast, the desire of your eyes, the delight of your soul; and your sons and daughters whom you left behind shall fall by the sword.

They also set up false witnesses who said,“ This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law;for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us.”
