I will make her officials and wise men drunk, her governors, officers and warriors as well; they will sleep forever and not awake,” declares the King, whose name is the Lord Almighty.

行詭詐的人是可詛咒的！他的羣畜中雖有公羊，他許了願，卻將有殘疾的獻給主。因我是大君王，我的名在列國中是可畏的。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。」

當夜，迦勒底王伯沙撒被殺。瑪代人大流士年六十二歲，取了迦勒底國。

伯沙撒王為他的一千大臣擺設盛筵，與這一千人飲酒。伯沙撒在歡飲之間，吩咐人將他父尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷聖殿所擄掠的金銀器皿拿來，好使王與大臣、王后、妃嬪用這器皿飲酒。於是他們把聖殿，就是耶路撒冷上帝殿中所擄掠的金器皿拿來，王和大臣、王后、妃嬪就用這器皿飲酒。他們飲酒，讚美金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石造的神明。

耶和華的使者出去，在亞述營中殺了十八萬五千人。清早有人起來，看哪，都是死屍。

我心慌亂，驚恐威嚇我。我所渴望的黃昏，反成為我的恐懼。有人擺設筵席，鋪上地毯，又吃又喝。「官長啊，起來，抹亮盾牌。」

她怎樣待人，也要怎樣待她，按她所行的加倍地報應她；用她調酒的杯加倍調給她喝。她怎樣榮耀自己，怎樣奢華，也要使她照樣痛苦悲哀。因她心裏說：『我坐了皇后的位，並不是寡婦，絕不至於悲哀。』

你們像雜亂的荊棘，像喝醉了的人，又如枯乾的碎稭，全然燒滅。

地上的君王，與她行淫、一同奢華的，看見燒她的煙，就必為她哭泣哀號；

禍哉！那給鄰舍酒喝，加上毒物，使人喝醉，為要看見他們下體的人！你滿受羞辱，不得榮耀；你也喝吧，顯明你是未受割禮的！耶和華右手的杯必傳到你那裏，你的榮耀就變為羞辱。黎巴嫩所受的殘暴必淹沒你，野獸所遭遇的毀滅使你驚嚇；因你流人的血，向土地、城鎮和全城的居民施行殘暴。
