许愿时说要献上羊群中的公羊，后来却拿伤残的来献给主，这种人该受咒诅！因为我是大君王，就是外族人也敬畏我的名。这是万军之耶和华说的。”

当夜，迦勒底王伯沙撒被杀。玛代人大流士六十二岁时夺取了王权。

伯沙撒王盛宴款待一千大臣，与他们一同饮酒。王畅饮的时候，命人将先王尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷圣殿中掳来的金银器皿拿来，供他与大臣、王后和妃嫔用来饮酒。于是，他们把从耶路撒冷上帝殿中掳来的金器拿来，王与大臣、王后和妃嫔便用这些器皿饮酒。他们一边饮酒，一边颂赞金、银、铜、铁、木、石所造的神明。

于是，耶和华的天使到亚述营中杀了十八万五千人。人们清早起来，发现到处是尸体。

我心慌意乱，惊惧不堪，我期盼的黄昏却令我恐惧。他们摆设宴席，坐在地毯上又吃又喝。突然有人大喊：“官长啊，起来擦亮盾牌，备战吧！”

她怎样待人，你们也要怎样待她，要按她所做的加倍地报应她，用她调酒的杯加倍地调给她喝。她过去怎样自炫自耀、奢华荒淫，现在也要让她怎样痛苦哀伤。因为她心里说，‘我贵为女王，不是寡妇，绝不会经历哀伤。’

你们像纠结的荆棘，又像酩酊大醉的人，要如干秸被火烧尽。

“那些曾与她通奸享乐的君王目睹焚烧她的烟，必为她哭泣哀号。

“用酒灌醉邻居以观看他们祼体的人啊，你们有祸了！你们必饱受羞辱，毫无荣耀。你们喝吧，露出下体吧！耶和华右手中的杯将传给你们，你们的荣耀将变成羞辱。你们以暴虐对待黎巴嫩，自己必被暴虐吞噬；你们毁灭野兽，自己必被恐怖笼罩。因为你们杀人流血，摧毁土地、城市和人民。
