For her sins are piled as high as heaven, and God remembers her evil deeds.Do to her as she has done to others. Double her penalty for all her evil deeds. She brewed a cup of terror for others, so brew twice as much for her.

The Lord has vindicated us. Come, let us announce in Jerusalem everything the Lord our God has done.Sharpen the arrows! Lift up the shields! For the Lord has inspired the kings of the Medes to march against Babylon and destroy her. This is his vengeance against those who desecrated his Temple.

“ The Israelites are like sheep that have been scattered by lions. First the king of Assyria ate them up. Then King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon cracked their bones.”Therefore, this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says:“ Now I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, just as I punished the king of Assyria.

There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.
