你們像雜亂的荊棘，像喝醉了的人，又如枯乾的碎稭，全然燒滅。

你也必喝醉，昏迷錯亂，並因仇敵的緣故尋求庇護。

我心慌亂，驚恐威嚇我。我所渴望的黃昏，反成為我的恐懼。有人擺設筵席，鋪上地毯，又吃又喝。「官長啊，起來，抹亮盾牌。」

伯沙撒王為他的一千大臣擺設盛筵，與這一千人飲酒。伯沙撒在歡飲之間，吩咐人將他父尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷聖殿所擄掠的金銀器皿拿來，好使王與大臣、王后、妃嬪用這器皿飲酒。於是他們把聖殿，就是耶路撒冷上帝殿中所擄掠的金器皿拿來，王和大臣、王后、妃嬪就用這器皿飲酒。他們飲酒，讚美金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石造的神明。

當夜，迦勒底王伯沙撒被殺。

你們要使摩押沉醉，因它向耶和華誇大。它要在自己所吐之物中打滾，又要被人嗤笑。

耶和華－我的上帝啊，求你看顧我，應允我！求你使我眼目明亮，免得我沉睡至死；

心中勇敢的人都被掠奪；他們睡了長覺，沒有一個英雄能措手。雅各的上帝啊，你的斥責一發，戰車和戰馬都沉睡了。
