你们像杂乱的荆棘，像喝醉了的人，又如枯干的碎秸，全然烧灭。

你也必喝醉，昏迷错乱，并因仇敌的缘故寻求庇护。

我心慌乱，惊恐威吓我。我所渴望的黄昏，反成为我的恐惧。有人摆设筵席，铺上地毯，又吃又喝。“官长啊，起来，抹亮盾牌。”

伯沙撒王为他的一千大臣摆设盛筵，与这一千人饮酒。伯沙撒在欢饮之间，吩咐人将他父尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷圣殿所掳掠的金银器皿拿来，好使王与大臣、王后、妃嫔用这器皿饮酒。于是他们把圣殿，就是耶路撒冷神殿中所掳掠的金器皿拿来，王和大臣、王后、妃嫔就用这器皿饮酒。他们饮酒，赞美金、银、铜、铁、木、石造的神明。

当夜，迦勒底王伯沙撒被杀。

你们要使摩押沉醉，因它向耶和华夸大。它要在自己所吐之物中打滚，又要被人嗤笑。

耶和华—我的神啊，求你看顾我，应允我！求你使我眼目明亮，免得我沉睡至死；

心中勇敢的人都被掠夺；他们睡了长觉，没有一个英雄能措手。雅各的神啊，你的斥责一发，战车和战马都沉睡了。
