他們像纏結著的荊棘，像喝醉了的酒徒，又像枯乾的禾稭，全都被吞滅了。

至於你，你必喝醉，必被隱藏；你必因仇敵的緣故，尋找避難所。

我的心迷糊，驚恐威嚇著我；我所愛慕的黃昏，竟使我戰兢。他們擺設筵席，鋪張地氈，又吃又喝。領袖們，起來吧！用油抹淨盾牌。

伯沙撒王為他的一千大臣大擺筵席，他和他們一同喝酒。伯沙撒喝酒歡暢的時候，下令把他先祖尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷聖殿裡掠取的金銀器皿拿來，好讓他和他的大臣、妻妾、妃嬪用這些器皿來喝酒。於是人把從耶路撒冷聖殿裡，就是神的殿裡，掠來的金器皿拿來；王和他的大臣、妻妾、妃嬪就用這些器皿來喝酒。他們喝酒，讚美那些用金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石所做的神。

當夜，迦勒底人的王伯沙撒被殺。

你們要使摩押沉醉，因為它向耶和華妄自尊大；摩押必跌在自己所吐之物上面，也必成為被人譏笑的對象。

耶和華我的神啊！求你看顧我，應允我；求你使我的眼睛明亮，免得我沉睡至死；

心裡勇敢的人都被搶掠，他們長睡不起；所有大能的勇士都無力舉手。雅各的神啊！因你的斥責，坐車的和騎馬的都沉睡了。
