The people of Jerusalem say,“ Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has destroyed us. He has thrown us into a panic. He has emptied us out like a jar. Like a snake he has swallowed us up. He has filled his stomach with our rich food. Then he has spit us out of his mouth.”

所以你要說預言：主耶和華這樣說：因為敵人使你們荒涼，四圍踐踏你們，好使你們歸給列國中餘剩的人為業，成為人們提說和嘲笑的對象，

踐踏窮乏人又除掉國中困苦人的，你們要聽這話。

然而，耶和華必恢復雅各的光榮，好像以色列的光榮一樣；因為劫掠的人曾把他們劫掠一空，又把他們的葡萄枝子毀壞了。

我的過犯像軛一樣被綁好；是他親手纏綁的。我的過犯加在我的頸上，他使我的氣力衰弱。主把我交在我不能對抗的人手中。主丟棄我中間的所有勇士；他招聚了一大群人來攻擊我，要打碎我的青年人。主踐踏猶大女兒中的處女，像踐踏壓酒池一樣。

你們劫掠銀子，搶奪金子吧！積蓄的財寶無窮無盡，珍貴的器皿不可勝數。現在卻空虛、荒涼，一無所有；人心驚惶，兩膝發抖，全身疼痛，面無血色。

“巴比倫必因以色列被刺殺的人而倒下，就如全地被刺殺的人因巴比倫而倒下。

我們要好像陰間一般，把他們活生生吞下，他們整個被我們吞下，如同下坑的人一樣；

從前人煙稠密的城中，現在怎麼竟然孤獨地坐在那裡。從前在列國中為大的，現在怎麼竟然像個寡婦。從前在眾省份中為王后的，現在怎麼竟然成了奴隸。

摩押自年幼以來常享安逸，像不受攪擾的酒在缸裡澄清，從沒有倒進另一個缸裡去，它也從沒有被人擄去。因此它仍保留著原味，它的芬芳沒有改變失去。“看哪！日子快到（這是耶和華的宣告），我必差派倒酒的人到它那裡去，把它倒出來，直至倒空，又把酒缸打碎。

所有遇見他們的都吞吃他們；他們的敵人說：‘我們沒有罪，因為他們得罪了耶和華，那真正的居所；耶和華是他們列祖的盼望。’

但鵜鶘與箭豬要佔據那地，貓頭鷹和烏鴉必住在其中。耶和華必把混沌的準繩、空虛的線鉈，拉在其上。

猶大王西底家第九年十月，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率領他的全軍來攻擊耶路撒冷，把城圍困起來。西底家第十一年四月九日，城被攻破。巴比倫王所有的將領：尼甲．沙利薛、三甲．尼波、大臣（“大臣”的本意不明確）撒西金、術士長（“術士長”的本意不明確）尼甲．沙利薛，以及巴比倫王所有其餘的將領，都進城，坐在中門。猶大王西底家和所有的軍兵看見了他們，就逃跑，在夜間逃出城外，經過王的花園，穿過兩道城牆中間的門，直往亞拉巴的路上走去。但迦勒底人的軍隊追趕他們，在耶利哥的原野上追上了西底家，把他拿住，帶到哈馬地的利比拉去見巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒；尼布甲尼撒就宣判他的罪狀。巴比倫王在利比拉，當著西底家眼前殺了他的眾子；巴比倫王也殺了猶大所有的顯貴，並且把西底家的眼睛弄瞎了，用銅鍊鎖住他，把他帶到巴比倫去。迦勒底人放火焚燒王宮和民房，又拆毀了耶路撒冷的城牆。
