歌篾的兒子是亞實基拿、利法、陀迦瑪。

七月十七日，方舟停在亞拉臘山上。

“你們要在列國中傳揚和宣告，要豎起旗幟宣揚，不可隱瞞，說：‘巴比倫被攻取了！彼勒蒙羞，米羅達驚慌；巴比倫的神像都蒙羞，它的偶像都驚慌。’

因為許多國家和大君王將要奴役迦勒底人，我必按著他們的作為和他們手所作的報應他們。”

你們要豎起旗幟，攻擊巴比倫的城牆，並要加強防衛，設立防哨，布下埋伏；因為耶和華不但定意，也必作成他攻擊巴比倫居民的話。

你要在光禿的山上豎起旗幟，向眾人揚聲揮手，叫他們進入權貴的門。我向我特選的軍兵下了命令；我也呼召了我的勇士，就是我那些驕傲自誇的人，去執行我在怒氣中所要作的。聽啊！山上有喧嘩的聲音，好像是眾多的人民；聽啊！有多國的人的嘈雜聲，好像是列國聚集在一起。萬軍之耶和華正在數點軍兵，預備打仗。他們從遠地而來，從天邊而來。就是耶和華和他惱怒的工具，要毀滅這全地。

歌篾的兒子是亞實基拿、低法、陀迦瑪。

“看哪！有一個民族從北方而來，有一大國和許多君王被激動，從地極來到。他們緊握弓和槍，性情殘忍，毫無憐憫；他們的聲音像海洋怒吼；巴比倫的居民哪！他們騎著戰馬，在戰場上如同一人，列陣攻擊你們。

蝗蟲的形象，好像是預備好了要上陣的戰馬一樣。牠們頭上戴的好像金冠冕，臉像人的面孔，牠們的頭髮好像女人的頭髮，牙齒好像獅子的牙齒；牠們的胸甲像鐵甲，牠們翅膀的聲音好像許多馬車奔馳上陣的聲音。牠們好像蠍子一樣有尾巴和毒刺，牠們的尾巴能傷害人五個月。牠們有無底坑的使者作王統治牠們。這王的名字，希伯來話叫阿巴頓，希臘話叫阿波倫。

萬軍之耶和華指著自己起誓，說：“我必使敵人充滿你，像蝗蟲一樣布滿你的全地，他們必對你發出勝利的吶喊。”

世上所有的居民，住在全地上的人哪！山上豎起旗幟的時候，你們要注意；號角吹響的時候，你們要聆聽。

他們要砍伐它的森林。這是耶和華的宣告；它的森林雖然茂密難以通過，但敵人比蝗蟲還多，無法數算。

一日，他正在他的神亞斯洛的廟中叩拜的時候，亞得米勒和沙利色用刀刺殺了他，然後逃到亞拉臘地。他的兒子以撒哈頓接續他作王。

城中如果吹起號角，居民怎會不驚慌呢？災禍如果臨到某城，不是耶和華所降的嗎？

因為他們帶著牲畜和帳棚上來，像蝗蟲那麼多；他們來的人和駱駝無數，進入境內，毀壞全地。

“便雅憫人哪！趕快逃命，離開耶路撒冷。你們要在提哥亞吹角，在伯．哈基琳升烽火；因為災禍和嚴重的毀滅，已從北方迫近。

因為我必招聚列國與耶路撒冷作戰，城必被佔領，房屋被搶掠，婦女被強姦。城中的居民必有半數被擄去，剩下的人民必不會從這城裡被剪除。

那日是黑暗幽冥的日子，是密雲漆黑的日子。有一隊眾多強盛的民來到，好像晨光滿布群山；這樣的事從前沒有發生過，以後直到萬代，也不會發生。在他們前面有吞滅的火，在他們後面有燃燒的火燄；他們未到以前，大地像伊甸園，他們過去以後，大地成了荒涼的曠野，沒有一樣能逃避他們的。

在那裡火要燒滅你，刀劍要除滅你，吞吃你，好像吞吃蚱蜢一樣，你只管增多如蚱蜢，加添像蝗蟲，你增加了你的商人，多過天上的星辰。蚱蜢退了殼，就飛去了。你的領袖多如蝗蟲，你的軍長像一群群的螞蚱；天涼的時候，停留在籬笆上；太陽一出，就都飛走了；沒有人知道牠們在甚麼地方。
