The exiles from Judah will say,‘ The LORD has brought about a great deliverance for us! Come on, let’s go and proclaim in Zion what the LORD our God has done!’

Listen! Fugitives and refugees are coming from the land of Babylon. They are coming to Zion to declare there how the LORD our God is getting revenge, getting revenge for what they have done to his temple.

He will vindicate you in broad daylight, and publicly defend your just cause.

Those whom the LORD has ransomed will return; they will enter Zion with a happy shout. Unending joy will crown them, happiness and joy will overwhelm them; grief and suffering will disappear.

“ Speak kindly to Jerusalem, and tell her that her time of warfare is over, that her punishment is completed. For the LORD has made her pay double for all her sins.”

Then I looked, and here was the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him were one hundred and forty- four thousand, who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.I also heard a sound coming out of heaven like the sound of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. Now the sound I heard was like that made by harpists playing their harps,and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one was able to learn the song except the one hundred and forty- four thousand who had been redeemed from the earth.

In unison give a joyful shout, O ruins of Jerusalem! For the LORD consoles his people; he protects Jerusalem.The LORD reveals his royal power in the sight of all the nations; the entire earth sees our God deliver.

Then I will tell about all your praiseworthy acts; in the gates of Daughter Zion I will rejoice because of your deliverance.”

I will fulfill my vows to the LORD before all his people,in the courts of the LORD’s temple, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!

For he will look down from his sanctuary above; from heaven the LORD will look toward earth,in order to hear the painful cries of the prisoners, and to set free those condemned to die,so they may proclaim the name of the LORD in Zion, and praise him in Jerusalem,

Yes, a time is coming when watchmen will call out on the mountains of Ephraim,“ Come! Let us go to Zion to worship the LORD our God!”’”Moreover, the LORD says,“ Sing for joy for the descendants of Jacob. Utter glad shouts for that foremost of the nations. Make your praises heard. Then say,‘ LORD, rescue your people. Deliver those of Israel who remain alive.’Then I will reply,‘ I will bring them back from the land of the north. I will gather them in from the distant parts of the earth. Blind and lame people will come with them, so will pregnant women and women about to give birth. A vast throng of people will come back here.They will come back shedding tears of contrition. I will bring them back praying prayers of repentance. I will lead them besides streams of water, along smooth paths where they will never stumble. I will do this because I am Israel’s father; Ephraim is my firstborn son.’”

When the LORD restored the well-being of Zion, we thought we were dreaming.At that time we laughed loudly and shouted for joy. At that time the nations said,“ The LORD has accomplished great things for these people.”The LORD did indeed accomplish great things for us. We were happy.

After these things I heard what sounded like the loud voice of a vast throng in heaven, saying,“ Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,because his judgments are true and just. For he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her sexual immorality, and has avenged the blood of his servants poured out by her own hands!”Then a second time the crowd shouted,“ Hallelujah!” The smoke rises from her forever and ever.The twenty- four elders and the four living creatures threw themselves to the ground and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne, saying:“ Amen! Hallelujah!”Then a voice came from the throne, saying:“ Praise our God all you his servants, and all you who fear him, both the small and the great!”Then I heard what sounded like the voice of a vast throng, like the roar of many waters and like loud crashes of thunder. They were shouting:“ Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the All- Powerful, reigns!

I must endure the LORD’s anger, for I have sinned against him. But then he will defend my cause, and accomplish justice on my behalf. He will lead me out into the light; I will experience firsthand his deliverance.When my enemies see this, they will be covered with shame. They say to me,“ Where is the LORD your God?” I will gloat over them. Then they will be trampled down like mud in the streets.
