于是，他们把从耶路撒冷上帝殿中掳来的金器拿来，王与大臣、王后和妃嫔便用这些器皿饮酒。他们一边饮酒，一边颂赞金、银、铜、铁、木、石所造的神明。突然，有人手的指头出现，在灯台对面王宫的粉墙上写字。王看见那只手在写字，

“刀下逃生的人啊，你们快走吧！不要停留！在远方要记住耶和华，要追想耶路撒冷。你们说巴比伦人闯入了耶和华殿的圣所，使你们蒙受耻辱，满面羞愧。

“看啊，我要使耶路撒冷成为令周围万民昏醉的酒杯。耶路撒冷被围困时，犹大也必受困。到那天，当地上的列国聚集起来攻击耶路撒冷的时候，我要使耶路撒冷成为一块沉重的石头。凡试图举起它的，必伤自己。
