主曰、當往攻背逆之邦、邦或作邑當罰其居民、殺戮毀滅淨盡、遵我所命爾者而行、

“ Attack the land of Merathaim and those who live in Pekod. Pursue, kill and completely destroy them,” declares the Lord.“ Do everything I have commanded you.

“ Enemies of Babylon, attack their land of Merathaim. Make war against those who live in Pekod. Chase them and kill them. Destroy them completely,” announces the Lord.“ Do everything I have commanded you to do.

“ Go up against the land of Merathaim, and against the inhabitants of Pekod. Kill, and devote them to destruction, declares the Lord, and do all that I have commanded you.

“ Go up, my warriors, against the land of Merathaim and against the people of Pekod. Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them, as I have commanded you,” says the Lord.

Attack the land of Merathaim, and those living in Pekod. Put them to the sword; completely destroy them— this is the LORD’s declaration— do everything I have commanded you.

大衛對亞比篩和所有的臣僕說：「看哪，我親生的兒子尚且尋索我的性命，更何況這便雅憫的子孫呢！由他吧，讓他咒罵！因為是耶和華吩咐了他。

「我後悔立掃羅為王了，因為他轉離不跟從我，也不執行我的命令。」撒母耳為此很苦惱，整夜向耶和華哀求。撒母耳清早起來去見掃羅，有人告訴撒母耳說：「掃羅去了迦密，看哪，他為自己豎立了一座紀念碑，然後轉身下到吉甲去了。」撒母耳到了掃羅那裡，掃羅對他說：「願你蒙耶和華祝福！我已經執行了耶和華的命令。」撒母耳說：「那麼我耳中這羊叫的聲音、我所聽見的牛叫聲，是怎麼回事呢？」掃羅說：「這些是軍兵從亞瑪力人那裡帶回來的，因為他們顧惜上好的牛羊，為要獻祭給耶和華你的神。至於其餘的，我們已經滅絕淨盡了。」撒母耳對掃羅說：「住口吧！讓我把耶和華夜間對我說的話告訴你。」掃羅對他說：「請說。」撒母耳說：「雖然你看自己微小，但你難道不是以色列眾支派的首領嗎？耶和華膏立你為以色列的王。耶和華派給你使命，說：『你去，把那些罪人——亞瑪力人滅絕淨盡。你要與他們爭戰，直到滅絕他們。』你為什麼沒有聽從耶和華的話，而衝向戰利品，做耶和華眼中看為惡的事呢？」掃羅對撒母耳說：「我就是聽從了耶和華的話，完成了耶和華所派給我的使命。我把亞瑪力王亞甲抓來了，也把亞瑪力人滅絕淨盡了。軍兵還從戰利品中取了一些牛羊，是當滅之物中那些上好的，要在吉甲獻祭給耶和華你的神。」撒母耳說：「耶和華喜悅燔祭和祭物，難道與喜悅人聽從耶和華的話等同嗎？看哪，聽從勝過獻祭，聽命勝過公綿羊的脂油；要知道，悖逆如同占卜的罪，頑梗就像拜偶像的惡。你既然厭棄耶和華的話，耶和華也厭棄你作王。」掃羅對撒母耳說：「我犯罪了！我確實違背了耶和華的吩咐和你的話語。因為我怕軍兵，就聽了他們的話。

你們全都聚集來聽，假神中誰曾宣告過這些事？耶和華所愛的那位，必行耶和華所喜悅的事對付巴比倫——他的膀臂對付迦勒底人。

我要派遣他去攻擊一個不敬虔的國家，吩咐他去攻打我所惱怒的子民，擄財掠貨，踐踏他們，如同踐踏街上的泥土。
