The LORD says,“ Attack the land of Merathaim and the people who live in Pekod! Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them! Do just as I have commanded you!

“ Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod. Kill and utterly destroy after them,” says Yahweh,“ and do according to all that I have commanded you.

the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans; Pekod, Shoa, and Koa; and all the Assyrians with them— desirable young men, all of them governors and prefects, officers and administrators, all of them riding on steeds.

Now go and attack the Amalekites and completely destroy everything they have. Do not spare them. Kill men and women, infants and nursing babies, oxen and sheep, camels and donkeys.’”

For a nation from the north will attack her; it will make her land desolate. No one will be living in it— both people and animals will escape.

For I will soon stir up and bring against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country. They will line up in battle formation against her; from there she will be captured. Their arrows will be like a skilled warrior who does not return empty-handed.

I am about to give the command— this is the LORD’s declaration— and I will bring them back to this city. They will fight against it, capture it, and burn it. I will make Judah’s cities a desolation, without inhabitant.”

Fight against them until you have annihilated them.’So why didn’t you obey the LORD? Look: to obey is better than sacrifice, to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and defiance is like wickedness and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.Saul answered Samuel,“ I have sinned. I have transgressed the LORD’s command and your words.
