我因这些事怎能不施行惩罚呢？像这样的国家，我怎能不亲自报复呢？”这是耶和华的宣告。

耶和华说：“我岂不因这些事讨罪呢？岂不报复这样的国民呢？

我岂不因这些事施行惩罚吗？像这样的国家，我岂能不报复呢？这是耶和华说的。

主曰、有若是之事、我豈能不降罰、有若是之民、我豈能不報復、

等到他们失足的时候，我要伸冤报应；因为他们遭遇灾难的日子近了，那预备要临到他们身上的事，必快快临到。

使刀剑临到你们，报复背约的仇；聚集你们到城里，好使我打发瘟疫在你们中间，把你们交在仇敌的手里。

他们喜爱献祭，献肉为祭，又拿来吃；耶和华却不喜悦他们。他必记得他们的罪孽，追讨他们的罪恶；他们必回到埃及去。

因此，主万军之耶和华，以色列的大能者说：“哎！我要向我的对头雪恨，向我的仇敌报复。

她在拜众巴力的日子，向他们烧香，佩戴耳环首饰，打扮自己，跟随她那些爱人，却把我遗忘，所以我必惩罚她。”这是耶和华说的。

列国啊，你们当与耶和华的子民一同欢呼，因为他要伸他仆人流血的冤，他要向他的仇人报复，他要救赎他的地和他的子民。”

锡安的居民（“居民”原文作“女子”）哪！你的刑罚已经受够了，耶和华必不再使你流亡；以东的居民哪！他必惩罚你的罪孽，揭露你的罪恶。

我的眼必不顾惜，我也不怜恤。我却要按着你的行为，照着你中间可憎的事报应你，你们就知道击打你们的是我耶和华。

耶和华再不能容忍你们邪恶的行为，和你们所行可憎的事；故此，你们的土地荒凉，成了令人惊骇、被人咒诅的对象，没有人居住，好像今天一样。

“这样我的怒气才可以发尽，我向他们所发的烈怒才可以平息，自己才得到舒畅。我向他们所发的烈怒完全发尽的时候，他们就知道我耶和华说过的话是出于嫉恨的心。我要使你变成荒地，使你在你四围的列国中和在所有路过的人眼前，成为羞辱的对象。我以怒气、烈怒和忿怒的责备向你施行审判的时候，你就必在你四围的列国中成为羞辱、讥讽和令人惊骇的对象，也成了他们的警戒。这是我耶和华说的。

耶和华是嫉恶和施行报复的神；耶和华施行报复，并且满怀烈怒；耶和华向他的对头施行报复，向他的仇敌怀怒。
