And to the others he said in my hearing,“ Pass through the city after him, and strike. Your eye shall not spare, and you shall show no pity.Kill old men outright, young men and maidens, little children and women, but touch no one on whom is the mark. The sound of an uproar of kingdoms, of nations gathering together! The Lord of hosts is mustering a host for battle.They come from a distant land, from the end of the heavens, the Lord and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

behold, I will send for all the tribes of the north, declares the Lord, and for Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants, and against all these surrounding nations. I will devote them to destruction, and make them a horror, a hissing, and an everlasting desolation.

Fear not, O Jacob my servant, declares the Lord, for I am with you. I will make a full end of all the nations to which I have driven you, but of you I will not make a full end. I will discipline you in just measure, and I will by no means leave you unpunished.”

But I will let a few of them escape from the sword, from famine and pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they go, and may know that I am the Lord.”
