耶和華曰、我奚見此哉、彼眾驚而卻退、勇士敗潰、急遁不顧其後、四周惶恐、

耶和華曰、我觀其喪膽敗北、四周畏懼、武士戰北、逃遁維速、不顧其後。

主曰、我觀其喪膽退後、勇士潰敗、急於奔逃、並不回顧、四望驚惶、何故也、

What do I see? They are terrified, they are retreating, their warriors are defeated. They flee in haste without looking back, and there is terror on every side,” declares the Lord.

因為主使亞蘭人的軍隊聽見戰車、戰馬和大軍的聲音；他們就彼此說：“看哪，一定是以色列王雇用了赫人的眾王和埃及人的眾王來攻擊我們。”於是他們在黃昏的時候起來逃跑，他們丟下他們的帳幕，他們的馬匹和他們的驢子；軍營仍在那裡，他們卻只顧逃命去了。

你的壯士為甚麼俯伏？他們站立不住（“你的壯士為甚麼俯伏？他們站立不住”或可參照《七十士譯本》譯作“為甚麼亞比士神逃跑？你的牛神站立不住”），是因耶和華把他們推倒了。

我在他們面前向你揮動刀劍的時候，他們必因你驚駭，他們的君王也必因你非常恐慌；在你傾覆的日子，他們各人都必為自己的性命時刻戰兢。

二人把他們帶出來以後，其中一位說：“逃命吧，不要回頭看，也不可留在這片平原上，要逃到山上去，免得你被除滅。”

地上的君王、大臣、軍長、財主、勇士和所有作奴隸的、自由的，都藏在山洞和巖穴裡。他們向山嶺和巖石說：“倒在我們身上吧！把我們藏起來，躲避坐在寶座上那位的面，和羊羔的震怒！因為他們震怒的大日子來到了，誰能站立得住呢？”

到那日，埃及人必像婦人一樣。他們必因萬軍之耶和華在埃及之上揮手而戰兢恐懼。

次日，巴施戶珥把耶利米從枷鎖上解下來，耶利米就對他說：“耶和華不再稱你的名為巴施戶珥，卻要稱你為瑪歌珥．米撒畢（“瑪歌珥．米撒畢”意即“四圍驚慌”）。因為耶和華這樣說：‘看哪！我要使你自己和你所有的朋友都驚惶失措；他們必倒在他們仇敵的刀下，你也必親眼看見。我要把全猶大交在巴比倫王手中；他要把他們擄到巴比倫去，或用刀擊殺他們。
