The women added,“ We burned incense to the Queen of Heaven. We poured out drink offerings to her. And our husbands knew we were making cakes that looked like her. They knew we were pouring out drink offerings to her.”

妇女说：“我们向天后烧香、浇奠祭，做天后像的饼供奉她，向她浇奠祭，是外乎我们的丈夫吗？”

妇女们说：“我们向天后烧香，献浇酒祭，做天后像的饼供奉它，向它献浇酒祭，难道我们的丈夫没有参与吗？”

妇女们说：“我们向天后烧香，献浇酒祭，做天后像的饼供奉它，向它献浇酒祭，难道我们的丈夫没有参与吗？”

那些烧香的妇女说：“你以为我们的丈夫不知道我们向天后烧香奠酒、照着她的形象做祭饼吗？”

那些妇女又说：“我们不错是向天后烧香和浇奠祭，难道我们的丈夫不知道我们照着天后的形象制饼供奉她，向她浇奠祭吗？”

婦女說：「我們向天后燒香、澆奠祭，做天后像的餅供奉她，向她澆奠祭，是外乎我們的丈夫嗎？」

婦女們說：「我們向天后燒香，獻澆酒祭，做天后像的餅供奉它，向它獻澆酒祭，難道我們的丈夫沒有參與嗎？」

婦女們說：「我們向天后燒香，獻澆酒祭，做天后像的餅供奉它，向它獻澆酒祭，難道我們的丈夫沒有參與嗎？」

那些燒香的婦女說：「你以為我們的丈夫不知道我們向天后燒香奠酒、照著她的形像做祭餅嗎？」

那些婦女又說：“我們不錯是向天后燒香和澆奠祭，難道我們的丈夫不知道我們照著天后的形象製餅供奉她，向她澆奠祭嗎？”

婦女們說：『我們向天后燻祭，澆奠祭，難道沒有我們丈夫的同意就作天后像的祭餅去供奉她，向她澆奠祭麼？』

我焚香灌奠於天后、作餅以象其形、加以灌奠、我夫豈不與乎、

諸婦女曰、昔我焚香、灌奠、為餅、以事天后、豈非我夫所許乎。

婦女曰、我焚香灌奠並作餅、以奉事天后、豈非我夫所許乎、

The women added,“ When we burned incense to the Queen of Heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, did not our husbands know that we were making cakes impressed with her image and pouring out drink offerings to her?”

And the women said,“ When we made offerings to the queen of heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, was it without our husbands’ approval that we made cakes for her bearing her image and poured out drink offerings to her?”

“ Besides,” the women added,“ do you suppose that we were burning incense and pouring out liquid offerings to the Queen of Heaven, and making cakes marked with her image, without our husbands knowing it and helping us? Of course not!”

And the women said,“ When we burned incense to the queen of heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, was it apart from our husbands’ knowledge that we made sacrificial cakes in her image and poured out drink offerings to her?”

“ And,” said the women,“ when we were burning sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, was it without our husbands that we made for her sacrificial cakes in her image, and poured out drink offerings to her?”

The women also said,“ And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, did we make cakes for her, to worship her, and pour out drink offerings to her without our husbands’ permission?”

And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink- offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink- offerings unto her, without our husbands?

And the women said,“ When we burned incense to the queen of heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, was it apart from our husbands’ knowledge that we made sacrificial cakes in her image and poured out drink offerings to her?”

And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?

The women added,“ We did indeed sacrifice and pour out drink offerings to the Queen of Heaven. But it was with the full knowledge and approval of our husbands that we made cakes in her image and poured out drink offerings to her.”

“ When we burned incense to the queen of the sky, and poured out drink offerings to her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings to her, without our husbands?”

The children go out and gather wood. The fathers light the fire. The women mix the dough. They make flat cakes of bread to offer to the female god called the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods. That makes me very angry.

All the Jews who were living in Lower and Upper Egypt gathered to give Jeremiah their answer. A large crowd had come together. It included men who knew that their wives were burning incense to other gods. Their wives were there with them. All of them said to Jeremiah,

The Lord God said,“ Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten fruit from the tree I commanded you not to eat from?”The man said,“ It’s the fault of the woman you put here with me. She gave me some fruit from the tree. And I ate it.”

You can be sure that sinners will be punished. And you can also be sure that godly people will go free.

The Lord God said to the woman,“ I will increase your pain when you give birth. You will be in great pain when you have children. You will long for your husband. And he will rule over you.”The Lord God said to Adam,“ You listened to your wife’s suggestion. You ate fruit from the tree I warned you about. I said,‘ You must not eat its fruit.’“ So I am putting a curse on the ground because of what you did. All the days of your life you will have to work hard. It will be painful for you to get food from the ground.

He followed the ways of the kings of Israel, just as the royal family of Ahab had done. In fact, he married a daughter of Ahab. Jehoram did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord.

Don’t marry any of their people. Don’t give your daughters to their sons. And don’t take their daughters for your sons.If you do, those people will turn your children away from serving the Lord. Then your children will serve other gods. The Lord will be very angry with you. He will quickly destroy you.

The woman saw that the tree’s fruit was good to eat and pleasing to look at. She also saw that it would make a person wise. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her. And he ate it.

“ Suppose she gets married after she makes a special promise. Or she gets married after agreeing to do something without thinking it through.Suppose her husband hears about what she did. And he doesn’t say anything to her about it. Then she must keep her promise. She must do what she agreed to do.

Herodias couldn’t forgive John for saying that. She wanted to kill him. But she could not,because Herod was afraid of John. So he kept John safe. Herod knew John was a holy man who did what was right. When Herod heard him, he was very puzzled. But he liked to listen to John.Finally the right time came. Herod gave a banquet on his birthday. He invited his high officials and military leaders. He also invited the most important men in Galilee.Then the daughter of Herodias came in and danced. She pleased Herod and his dinner guests. The king said to the girl,“ Ask me for anything you want. I’ll give it to you.”And he gave her his promise. He said to her,“ Anything you ask for I will give you. I’ll give you up to half my kingdom.”She went out and said to her mother,“ What should I ask for?”“ The head of John the Baptist,” she answered.At once the girl hurried to ask the king. She said,“ I want you to give me the head of John the Baptist on a big plate right now.”The king was very upset. But he thought about his promise and his dinner guests. So he did not want to say no to the girl.He sent a man right away to bring John’s head. The man went to the prison and cut off John’s head.

There was never anyone like Ahab. He gave himself over to do what was evil in the sight of the Lord. His wife Jezebel talked him into it.
