We will certainly do everything we said we would: We will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and will pour out drink offerings to her just as we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had plenty of food and were well off and suffered no harm.

We will certainly do everything we said we would. We’ll burn incense to the female god called the Queen of Heaven. We’ll pour out drink offerings to her. We’ll do just as we and our people of long ago have done. Our kings and our officials also did it. All of us did it in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had plenty of food. We were well off. We didn’t suffer any harm.

But we will do everything that we have vowed, make offerings to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her, as we did, both we and our fathers, our kings and our officials, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, and prospered, and saw no disaster.

We will do whatever we want. We will burn incense and pour out liquid offerings to the Queen of Heaven just as much as we like— just as we, and our ancestors, and our kings and officials have always done in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For in those days we had plenty to eat, and we were well off and had no troubles!

Instead, we will do everything we promised: we will burn incense to the queen of heaven and offer drink offerings to her just as we, our ancestors, our kings, and our officials did in Judah’s cities and in Jerusalem’s streets. Then we had enough food, we were well off, and we saw no disaster,

But we will certainly carry out every word that has proceeded from our mouths, by burning sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, just as we ourselves, our forefathers, our kings, and our leaders did in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then we had plenty of food and were well off and saw no misfortune.

But we will certainly do whatever has gone out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. 孩子拾柴，父亲点火，妇人揉面做饼向天后献祭，向别的神明奠酒，惹我发怒。

我们的王、首领、祭司和祖先没有遵行你的律法，也没有留心听从你的诫命和你给他们的警告。

但如果你们亲口许了愿，一定要向你们的上帝耶和华信守诺言。

他们的母亲淫乱放荡，厚颜无耻，她说，‘我要跟随我的情人，他们给我食物和水、羊毛和麻布、油和酒。’因此，我要用荆棘围堵她，筑墙阻断她的去路。她要追随情人，却追不上；寻找情人，却找不到。于是，她说，‘我倒不如回到丈夫身边，我从前的光景比现在还好。’她不知道是我给她五谷、新酒和油，又赐给她大量金银——她却用这些供奉巴力。因此，到了收割和酿酒的季节，我要收走我的五谷和新酒，夺回我给她遮体的羊毛和麻布。

“我们还不如当初在埃及就死在耶和华手中。在那里，我们至少可以围在肉锅旁吃个饱。现在，你把我们带到旷野来，是要叫全体会众饿死在这里吗？”

以色列的上帝——万军之耶和华说，‘你们和你们的妻子曾许愿向天后烧香奠酒，并且身体力行。你们继续还所许的愿吧！’

倘若她丈夫得知的当天加以反对，她的诺言就无效。耶和华必不追究她，因为她丈夫反对。

他们把他们的上帝耶和华的诫命抛诸脑后，铸造了两个金牛犊，还造了亚舍拉神像。他们祭拜巴力和天上的万象，

他女儿说：“父亲啊，你既然向耶和华许了愿，就照你许的愿对待我吧！因为耶和华帮你打败了敌军亚扪人，为你报了仇。

“你们和你们的祖先、君王、官长及其他所有百姓在犹大各城和耶路撒冷的街上烧香，耶和华岂不记得，岂能遗忘？

耶路撒冷的房屋和犹大君王的宫殿将被玷污，像陀斐特一样，因为他们在房顶向天上的万象烧香，向别的神明奠酒。’”

他们的神就是自己的肚腹，他们以自己的羞耻为荣，只想着地上的事，他们的结局是灭亡。

“‘然而，他们却背叛我，不听我的话，没有除去他们祭拜的可憎之物和埃及的偶像。我本想在埃及向他们发烈怒，倾倒我的怒火，

所以，在很久以前，事情还没有发生时就向你预言这些事，免得你说这些是你的偶像做的，是你雕刻和铸造的偶像命定的。

王听了这个请求，感到十分为难，但因为在众宾客面前起了誓，就不好拒绝。

“倘若人在什么事上向耶和华许愿或起誓，他就不可食言，必须履行诺言。

他们说：“我们必靠舌头制胜，嘴唇是我们自己的，谁管得着我们？”

我们跟祖先一样也犯了罪，行事邪恶。

因为他们背弃我，给别的神明烧香，制造偶像惹我发怒，我的怒火要在这地方燃烧，绝不止息。

难道你们忘记了你们的祖先、犹大列王及其嫔妃，以及你们自己和妻子在犹大和耶路撒冷街上的恶行吗？

他们必放火焚城，把城中的房屋付之一炬，城中的居民曾在房顶上向巴力烧香、向假神奠酒，惹我发怒。以色列人和犹大人从一开始就行我视为恶的事，他们的所作所为惹我发怒。这是耶和华说的。这城自从建立以来一直惹我发怒，以致我不得不毁灭它。以色列和犹大的君王、首领、祭司、先知、百姓和耶路撒冷居民的恶行令我怒不可遏。

要知道，你们从传统的、没有意义的生活中被救赎出来，不是靠金银等会朽坏的东西，

我们犯罪作恶，行为邪恶叛逆，偏离你的诫命和典章，没有听从你的仆人——众先知奉你的名向我们的君王、首领、先祖及国中百姓所说的话。主啊，你是公义的，我们今日满面羞愧，我们犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民，以及因对你不忠而被驱散到远近各地的以色列人都满面羞愧。主啊，我们和我们的君王、首领、先祖因得罪了你而满脸羞愧。
