我又觀之、見沃田成為荒野、諸邑毀於耶和華烈怒之前、

良田荒蕪、城邑傾圮、蓋耶和華涖臨、其怒殊烈。

I looked, and the fruitful land was a desert; all its towns lay in ruins before the Lord, before his fierce anger.

I looked. And the fruitful land had become a desert. All its towns were destroyed. The Lord had done all this because of his great anger.

I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a desert, and all its cities were laid in ruins before the Lord, before his fierce anger.

I looked, and the fertile fields had become a wilderness. The towns lay in ruins, crushed by the Lord’s fierce anger.

Therefore because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets. (niv)

The Lord Almighty has declared in my hearing:“ Surely the great houses will become desolate, the fine mansions left without occupants.A ten- acre vineyard will produce only a bath of wine; a homer of seed will yield only an ephah of grain.” (niv)

In that day the Lord will use a razor hired from beyond the Euphrates River— the king of Assyria— to shave your heads and private parts, and to cut off your beards also.In that day, a person will keep alive a young cow and two goats.And because of the abundance of the milk they give, there will be curds to eat. All who remain in the land will eat curds and honey.In that day, in every place where there were a thousand vines worth a thousand silver shekels, there will be only briers and thorns.Hunters will go there with bow and arrow, for the land will be covered with briers and thorns.As for all the hills once cultivated by the hoe, you will no longer go there for fear of the briers and thorns; they will become places where cattle are turned loose and where sheep run. The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur— nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, which the Lord overthrew in fierce anger.All the nations will ask:“ Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?”And the answer will be:“ It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt.They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them.Therefore the Lord’s anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book.In furious anger and in great wrath the Lord uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now.” (niv)

“ Judah mourns, her cities languish; they wail for the land, and a cry goes up from Jerusalem.The nobles send their servants for water; they go to the cisterns but find no water. They return with their jars unfilled; dismayed and despairing, they cover their heads.The ground is cracked because there is no rain in the land; the farmers are dismayed and cover their heads.Even the doe in the field deserts her newborn fawn because there is no grass.Wild donkeys stand on the barren heights and pant like jackals; their eyes fail for lack of food.” (niv)

It is you alone who are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry? (niv)

How long will the land lie parched and the grass in every field be withered? Because those who live in it are wicked, the animals and birds have perished. Moreover, the people are saying,“ He will not see what happens to us.” (niv)
